As in years past, Civin- ettes’ service projects out- numbered their money- making projects. One of the Civinettes’ service projects was taking the teacher’s children out at Halloween. The girls gave a turkey away at Thanksgiving and a box of candy at Valen- tine’s to the winning teach- er. 29

Students from Central served as hard- BISONE | ' ES working, dependable, and most of all safe school bus drivers this year. The drivers were under the expert supervision of Mr. Kenneth Dickens. The duties of the drivers were to get up early enough to transport two bus loads of students on time for school, then to return them home in the afternoon. The bus drivers faced many uncalled for circumstances, but managed to pull through. Their monthly checks made it all seem worth- while. Once again this year our BISONETTE Drill Team entertained during half-time for the football season. The girls put in many hard hours of work under the supervision of Mrs. Nancy Laney, Mrs. Susan Ward, and Mrs. Alice Spruill. Ist Row, L-R: L. Trivett, C. Matthews, S. Mooney. 2nd Row, L-R: S. CIVITANS In the past few years the Junior Civitan Club has been on the verge of disbanding. Two years ago the club’s charter was taken away. Last year the club regained its charter but its members were very inactive. The club almost folded again. This year the club was on probation first se- mester. Civitans met the challenge and the club finally seems to be on solid ground. Painting and generally cleaning up a house was the club’s money-making project this year. On Saturday morning after every home foot- ball game Civitans cleaned the stadium. The club also served “Gator-Ade” to football players at halftime. Other projects included: parking cars at Day-in-the-Park, providing food for a needy family at Christmas, washing the activity buses, and selling fruit cakes for the International Civ- itans. Another project the Civitans seemingly have undertaken is boosting school spirit at football and basketball games. They challenged anyone to out-yell them.
