ANCHOR CLUB The Anchor Club, although smaller than most service clubs at Central, was one of the most active service clubs. During the fall, members weeded and paint- ed the teachers’ parking lot, went to the Anchor Club district con- vention in Charlotte, and dressed dolls for the Salvation Army. Some of their weekly and monthly projects included putting flowers in the general and guid- ance offices, carrying magazines to study halls, tutoring students for the Youth Services Bureau, and helping with night school. Their money-making project was a craft sale at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church. The Anchor Club upholds the standards of their sponsor club the Pilot Club of High Point.
