WINDHAM, MRS. JEAN¬ ETTE P., B.A., Florida State University, Art, Art Club, Y-Teens ART DEPARTMENT The new art teacher, Mrs. Windham, provided an extremely active program. With the aid of slides, the art students made an extensive study of art history and painters. Following the guidelines of a set course of study, the students received instruction in a wide variety of different forms of art. Many of the art students were interested in pur¬ suing a profession in commercial art, while others were concerned simply with art enrichment. 17

The physical education program attempted to de¬ velop students both physically and mentally by par¬ ticipation in team sports such as football and basket¬ ball. Througli individual efforts such as track and tumbling, the department hoped to develop physical pride and to give the student the athletic interest and ability needed for a carryover sport in later life. 19
