Sean Williamson. Peter Lee. Robert Durham, Peter Hanson. Lloyd Hanson and Coach Jackson. The Boys Cross Country team was young and inexperienced in 1980. They were coached by Don Jackson who indicated that before the team could be really competitive they would need more runners. Individual performances were commendable. Two standouts were Robert Durham and Peter Hanson. Robert was voted Most Valuable and Peter Most Improved at the conclusion of the season. Robert set a school record in the 3 mile run and also qualified for the state cross country meet. Coach Jackson hopes that next year there will be more students who are willing to go out for cross country. Robert Durham 14

The girls swimming team was an ambitious, hardworking group. Many school records were broke during the year. Several swimmers qualified for the city meet and regionals. Kneeling: Laurie Harris, Kim Shoals and Sherri Sanders Laurie Harris The Girls Cross Country team had a very successful year under new head coach Don Jackson. Team members felt that for the first time they were respected as competitors. A highlight of the season was the trip to the Duluth Swain meet where they finished the highest they have ever finished at that meet. Theresa Klein was voted the Most Improved for the year. Laurie Harris finished 3rd in the city and went to the state cross country meet for the second time. During the season she had broken her own school record for the 2 mile. Her time was 11:49. 15
