Kate Paulos. who created the puppets and adapted and directed the show said. I looked forward to working with Central High students, appreciated their dedication and enjoyed their enthusiasm. The cast felt there was a lot of work involved, but they were very proud and satisfied with the success of the show. For Carter - black. For Reagan - white Hawaii voted for Carter Alaska voted for Reagan As we all know 1980 was the year of an election. The candidates for 40th president of the United States were, as shown. Ronald Reagan. Jimmy Carter and John Anderson. Also running, but not shown here, were the likes of Clark the libertarian and Barry Commoner who was the only one running with a woman for vice-president. Around school there was much talk of the election. Here and there a small ''debate” would break out about who was best choice for the next President All over there were various buttons and stickers of one s favorite candidate. Most frequently there were buttons on backpacks but also some people wore bumperstickers plastered on windbreakers. Many students preferred Carter or an Independent to Reagan, although there were some who liked the former California Governor In the end it was Reagan who won carrying 46% of the votes leaving Carter with 85% ond the Independants with the remaining percentage of the votes Centrol wishes President Reagan good-luck 11 5
