Although the team won only two matches, good improve -ment was shown by all. Jeanette Booker, a senior in her first year out, was the top player on the team and played 1 singles the entire year. With five of the top eight players back next year, the team should have a world of improvement in its record. TOP: Oomph! ABOVE: Anticipation! Women's Swimming 1978 The Women's Swim Team, led by captains Lisa Newcombe, Jenny Scott, and Terri Helmboldt had its best season ever this year. Aided by a strong turnout and a deep team spirit, the team, under coaches Ricky Bruce and Sharon Ireland, compiled a 5-4 record. 1978 Women's Cross-Country Right: Anne Gilbertson battles through the final stretch against opponents from South and West. Below: Tensely awaiting the gun ... an exhausting day. This year's women's cross-country team had one of its best seasons ever, in spite of the minimal turnout of runners. Running some -times ten miles a day, they improved tremendously and placed third in the city meet. Jane O'Brien was an All-city runner, and Coach Rich Hunt was named the All-city coach.
