A Big Ten champion pole vaulter, Mr. Hawker holds a Masters Degree in History from the University of Minnesota. He has coached Swimming, Baseball. Track. Cross Country and Golf at Central. It was in 1952 that he was appointed Director of Athletics. Since then he has given us innumerable pep talks and spread school spirit endlessly. His outstanding contribution to the interschool competitive sports program earned for him All City Recognition in 1962. We the class of 1968 wishes to express our thanks to Mr. William Hawker for all of his years of service here at Central. 72 Central High School has been for tunate in having this tremendous teacher, successful coach and lovable straight-man for Mr. Elias’ jokes. Mr. Earl Bowman has taught Sophomore and Junior History here at Central for thirteen years. He has also been the number one assistant football coach and the head track coach. Doug Hoerdt and Ed Hayford. The back-stroke was swum by Dana Gustafson and Steve Sjolund.
