 acuity At Central we have been given the opportunity for greater learning. Our faculty has striven to teach us to reason. There is more to being a teacher than just correcting test papers. Each teacher must be a counselor to his or her particular students. We at Central are fortunate to have such learned “sources of wisdom.”

The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it—and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.” John Fitzgerald Kennedy 1917-1963 We of the class of 1964 have seen the opening of the new frontier, an era which may well be one of the most exciting and rewarding in man’s history. As we stand at the thresh-hold of a new life, a tremendous challenge faces our generation. From the beginning of time, men have sought universal understanding, freedom, and peace and the torch has now been passed to us. The courage and dedication required of our generation has been reflected this year on the athletic field as well as in the classroom. It is essential that we now transfer our efforts to the larger, yet similar, task before us. We realize that each one of us, as an individual, must strive to “truly light the world.” For this reason, we dedicate the 1964 Centralian to the student body and to the attainment of these goals.

s the 1964 school year draws to a close, it seems appropriate to recall that fifty classes have graduated from the stage of Central High School since the dedication of this building and. of course, many more from old Central before that. For each class and each student, as for you, the school has meant special considerations, special opportunities, special values. With the complexity and diversity of modern life today. Central, more than ever before, has special meanings for its students. Wherever you go, whatever you do, be worthy of Central! Your efforts have contributed to its accomplishments, your support will contribute to its future. As a class you have acquitted yourself well; you are serious and well-intentioned; and you have been a good class with which to work. As an individual you will need many things, not the least of which is a sharpened intellect. We feel that you are prepared to meet the competition of an interesting but difficult world.
