Dedication An inspiring speaker showing exceptional school spirit, and a staunch supporter of athletics are only a few of the characteristics which have helped moke this man a tradition at Central in the many years he has been here. His coaching at Shattuck Military Academy won two state and national, indoor and outdoor, track championships. He arrived at .Central in 1929, and since has coached swimming, basketball, track, and cross country, rewarding us with many championship teams. Championships seem to have followed him through the years, as in 1923 he won the Big Ten Conference pole vaulting championship for the University of Minnesota. None of us will forget the many pep talks and the backing he has given us in all school activities. The fact that he will see a job through to its finish is an attribute which is admired by all who know him. For reasons too many to enumerate, we, the class of '56, dedicate our yearbook to you— Wild Bill Hawker. 6-.TG- 4
