Joan Dorr O’Brien STUDENTS of Central High School may well consider themselves fortunate in having so capable a woman, one who so well understands young people, and who is so interested in them, as Mrs. Joan O’Brien to guide and direct them along a rhythmic path. Mrs. O’Brien's guidance in the role of student counselor reaches out into the realm of actual life and will have lasting effect upon the lives of the students to which it is extended. She has been responsible for bringing out the best in many of Central’s students. Her ability to understand their needs has established a lasting remembrance and appreciation. Before Mrs. O’Brien came to Central eleven years ago. she was a teacher at the Harriet Grade School. For many years before becoming student counselor at Central she performed the duties of home visitor in efficient manner. As student counselor she teaches students the importance of planning in high school for the vocations which they are to follow in after life, assisting them, by providing material for study and by counsel, in the determination of what these vocations are to be. Without Mrs. O’Brien’s keen interest, many students would lack this most necessary preparation for the future.
