Calvin W. Jarvis To the Graduating Classes of 1929: My dear young friends: MOST of you entered Central three years ago. 1 became principal at that time so that you of the June class represent the first class to pass its entire career under my administration. It is for this reason that I feel an especial interest in you. We have spent these years together with one common purpose—that you as individuals might gain the benefits of those school experiences which arc believed to be essential to all youth in the preparation for adult life. Now we, faculty and undergraduates, say farewell to you with the earnest hope that the high ideals for which true Ccntralites stand will be guiding forces in vour lives, and that every one of you may achieve happiness in useful careers. I desire always to be, Your friend, Principal.

Joan Dorr O’Brien STUDENTS of Central High School may well consider themselves fortunate in having so capable a woman, one who so well understands young people, and who is so interested in them, as Mrs. Joan O’Brien to guide and direct them along a rhythmic path. Mrs. O’Brien's guidance in the role of student counselor reaches out into the realm of actual life and will have lasting effect upon the lives of the students to which it is extended. She has been responsible for bringing out the best in many of Central’s students. Her ability to understand their needs has established a lasting remembrance and appreciation. Before Mrs. O’Brien came to Central eleven years ago. she was a teacher at the Harriet Grade School. For many years before becoming student counselor at Central she performed the duties of home visitor in efficient manner. As student counselor she teaches students the importance of planning in high school for the vocations which they are to follow in after life, assisting them, by providing material for study and by counsel, in the determination of what these vocations are to be. Without Mrs. O’Brien’s keen interest, many students would lack this most necessary preparation for the future.
