To the June and January Classes of lyn: YOUR principal wishes to suggest to vou a “civic creed.” I f you will make this creed a part of your lives and thought, you will be most worthy citizens of our great republic. “God hath made of one blood all nations of men, and we are His children, brothers and sisters all. We are citizens of these United States, and we believe that our Hag stands for self-sacrifice for the good of all the people. We want, therefore, to he true citizens of our beautiful city, and we will show our love for her by our works. Minneapolis does not ask us to die for her welfare; she asks us to live for her,—so to live and so to act that her government may be pure, her officers honest, and that every school building within her boundaries shall be a fit place to grow the best men and women to rule over her. With kindest and best wishes to each one, I remain with loving regards, Your principal, J. X. Greer.

To the Class of ipu: I have enjoyed having a full room again this term. There is not so much opportunity for you to rattle around. 1 have enjoyed you hugely and sincerely. 1 think some of you feel that as a class you have not done big things. I am not so sure of this. In a quiet, undemonstrative manner you have been surely and steadily appropriating and assimilating such discipline and culture as we have had to offer. It is my hearty wish, and that of all your teachers, that real brain power, real moral strength, real personal adaptability in the years when you need these qualities most, maybe yours, developed in some degree, at least, by our efforts and our endeavors. Sincerely and heartily yours, Uncle Mac. Ten
