It has been said th and we on the annual staff in fact, that we have made this the theme of your 1950 annual. Every school day memory is connected from the “8:30” class in the morning when the haunting “My Foolish Heart” makes you shiver with the excitement of you present romance, until the closing hour of 2:30 when you think of the words “Day is Done.” Memories of all the delightful events of the school year are brought to mind by such melodies as “Glory, Glory to Lanier,” the favorite football song, “Red and White,” the Miller Alma Mater, “Jingle Bells” at Christmas, “Lazy River” in the spring, “America the Beautiful’ for the patri otic days, and “God Be With Us Till We Meet Again” at the close of school in June. Life is truly a song and may this book be cherished by you, for in it we have tried to capture for you by words, tunes, and pictures —memories, places, friends, events and songs—your life in 1950. BOARD OF EDUCATION The members of the Board of Education, well-known civic leaders, have, by their high ideals, ability, and determined effort, made the Bibb County School system outstanding. Mr. Lee M. Happ and Mr. Joseph N. Neel have given freely of their time since 1910 and 1911 respectively. Other members later elected are: Mr. Walter T. Johnson, 1918; Mr. Wal- lace Miller, 1928; Mr. J. Clay Murphey, 1929; Mr. J. D. Crump, 1933; Dr. H. G. Weaver, 1939; Mr. Andrew J. Lyndon, 1943; Mr. McKibben Lane, 1946; Mr. William P. Simmons, 1946; and Mr. George Rankin, who was elected this year by the members to serve the unexpired term of Mr. Alfred R. Willingham. The ex-officio members are Ordinary of Bibb County, Walter Stevens, who has been on the Board since 1927, Mayor Lewis B. Wilson, serving since 1948, and Judge Mallory C. Atkinson, who has served since 1943. We are indeed grateful to the members of the Bibb County Board of Education for the excellent work they have done during these years.
