GQJJ Tropfecy 1965 It is the merry month of May, 1965, and the Seniors of '55 are beginning to gather for our class reunion. As we stroll around the campus, we see many familiar sights that bring back memories of our beloved Alma Mater. Here comes Linda Mclellan who is now the educational director at Hay Street Methodist Church in F ayetteville. with her are Darlene Williams and Julia Edge. Darlene is now the private secretary of Mr. Seavy Holmes, who is assistant manager of the Sealtest Milk Co. of Durham, while Julia is the Art Director at the Famous School of Art in New York. Newland Blackman and Billy Strickland just came in. Newland, buyer for Johnson Cotton Company of Dunn, N. C. , is telling everyone about the new John Deere Tractors of which he has just received a slupment. Billy, local poultryman, has developeda chicken with a detachable head. This eliminates chopping blocks anu axes. We wonder when Ann Edwards and Janie Bell Carter will arrive. We have been told that they have accepted positions as Home Economics teachers at Campbell College. Mrs. Floyd Tyndall, the former Lessie May Register, sent word that she might be unable to attend because of the sickness of her second child. What's that noise that we hear? Why it's Billy Bain, racing with his Model T. Fad. We wonder if it will ever wear out. As we assembled in the auditorium we met Byrd Lupo, who tells us of the position she has accepted as Dean of Women at Woman's College in Greensboro. Mrs. Jerry Adams, the former Margaret Poulos, has just flown in from Germany to be with us today at our reunion and to see how time has changed her pals, Janie, Elaine McLaurin and Hilda Autry. Janie tells us that she is now holding a position as secretary to the F. B. I. , while Elaine and Milton Horne, Hilda and Archie McGill are happily married and live in Stedman with their families. We read in the Fayetteville Observer, of which Carroll Beard is Editor, that Stedman opened the season with a win over Hope Mills. Coach Wallace Jernigan was well satisfied with the performance of his team. Here come Wallace and Carroll now. From the happy look on Wallace's face, they evidently must be talking about the game. What's that we hear Jimmy Mclaurin telling? Could it be of his recent promotion as manager of Clark's Sporting Goods in Fayetteville? Gail McLaurin's dream of travel has become a reality since she became the wife of a famous Band Leader who plays in the United States and Europe. We will probably hear more about her travels from Gail, because here she comes with Joyce McMillan. After completing her business course at East Carolina, Joyce became secretary to a prominent business man, and, in the process of a year, married her boss. Tommy Weeks and Rupert Bland really look distinguished in their uniforms. They have been telling us of some of their experiences in the Army. Tommy tells us that he is planning to make the Army his career. We wish him luck. Looking out the window we see Eugene Mason, Samuel Strickland, and Oscar Huggins who have just arrived. It seems the M 81. S Used Car Co. of Dunn is doing a thriving businessg also, Oscar has turned his little store into a super supermarket. Mrs. Euland Baker and Mrs. Jerry Lucas, former Misses Mary Smith and Elsie I-louse, have just arrived with their families and are telling their classmates of their happy marriages.
