EDITURIAL Bow that we are leaylnv Central H1511 School we look back at our 111011 school years 181111 a stranve feellng of affect1onate farewell to the chool that has harbored us fOr so lonff and w1th a feellnff of deep scrlousness about the eyents that haye occurred Ill our school and 1n the world at larffe durmg our years at Central '1Y1th1n our school, we haye made many fr1ends and haw framed many memor1e that w1ll remaln w1th us throughout our l1yes We haye learned the rules of good c1t17ensh1p the ways and means of gettlnff alonff wlth others and the fundamentals of a well rounded fducatlon ln th1s last vear we haye framed the pec1al memory of beU111n1ng each day w1th a prayer to Cod and w1th the pledee of allefnance to the tlasf lhe words of the pledge haye long been fam1l1ar to u , but we haye learncd to sav together the followlng prayer Almwhty Cod we acknowledge our dc pe11d ence upon Thee, and we bee Thy blesslngs upon us, our parents our teachers, and our country Th1s prayer w1ll come back to us tlme and agaln, brmffmg memor1es of school World HHHIYS of course, have been lmportant durlng these years XVllll011l warnlng the Communlst forces of lXorth Korea struck south of the 38th parallel on June 10 1950 We were sophomores then, just gettlnfr ready for our JUIIIOI' year, but war was on and our Amerlcan bovs were 1n the fight Our yunlor year too was a tlme of natlonal IIHIJOTIHHCC on January 3 1951 the 82nd Congress was opened, on July 1951 truce talks were begun 1n Korea, but up to th1s date nothmfr yery tanglble has been accomphshed Also 1n 1951, some 110 000 census takers counted the populat1on of our country , thelr count revealed that nearly 151 IT11lllOIl people were then l1y1n0f 1n the Un1ted States Our semor year, 1952 1S one of Great pol1t1cal 1mporta11ce lll the nat1on for It lb 1n thls year that another Pres1dent1al 6l9CtlOH IS to be held Who w1ll be our next Pres1dent'7 That questlon w1ll not be answered unt1l we are graduates Mayor problems too face the Un1ted States as we end our h1gh scl1ool days Lately graft and other corruptxon haye been all too preyalent 1n our nat1on Brlbery ln Amerlcan sports freezers and fur coats as tokens of grautude cheaung on exam 1nat1on papers these all show a deflnlte lowermg of Amer1can eth1cal and moral standards Unfortunately cor1upt1on has happened before and now as beforc some thxng must be done to F8156 the ethlcal and moral standards of th1s country 11 1t 15 to remaln a free and democratlc nat1on Telev1s1on an lmportant factor 1n Amer1can l1fe today IS both a luxury and a problem ln 1925 when C F Jenklns announced that he had lnyented a way to transmlt plctures by electr1c1ty, he probably had l1ttle 1dea of the tremendous change hls lny entlon would brme about It has completely chanffed the Amerlcan way of l1fe and has had both good and bad effects It has found 1ts w ay 1nto m1ll1o11s of homes and now the problem of 1ts place 1n educat1on 15 bemg stud1ed Should 1t be used as an educatlonal a1d 1n school bulldlngsf' Would It be a benefit or a detrxmentg Should the schools own and operate teley1s1on channels?
