Betty Rice and Carolyn Hinkle for the sweaters they have knitted for Britain. The History classes for sponsoring the sale of Defense Stamps. Johnnie Tucker for being an outstanding Girl Scout Trooper. Julia Herbert for winning both the D. A. R. and the Civitan Medals for good citizenship. Lem Tanksley and Daphine Sprouse for having the best papers on the Constitution examination. The Boys' Quartette for their fine work. Celeste Parsley for her services as accompanist for the Glee Club. Daphine Sprouse for directing the Choral Reading. Buford Dews, Jewell Ballard, Annie Mary Oglesby, and Lytle Johnson for soliciting so many advertisements for the publications. Georgia Anna Smitha for her excellent salesmanship in the Operetta Ticket Cam' paign. Miss Sloan for the Red Cross work she so ably supervises. The County Health Department for the free health examinations. The Senior Class for buying Defense Bonds instead of flowers for graduation. The Program Committee for the splendid assembly programs. The Students who contributed to the Christmas Fund for the Fannie Battle Day Home. Mrs. Cochran for leadership of the Honor Society. James Ray and Edward Moore for good performances in the one act play. The Band for winning in the March of Dimes Parade. Jewell Ballard, Tom Fisher, Julia Herbert, Russell Kennedy, and Daphine Sprouse for being Faculty Nominees for the Civitan Medal. The boys of the Safety Patrol, especially Captain Lee Nally and Dan Turrentine. Daphine Sprouse, Tom Fisher, Tom Gibson, and Charles Bennett, top contenders for the Science Medal. The Committee who planned the Home Room Programs. The members of the Honor Society who gave up their rest period to coach other students. Lefty Johnson for swell work in Basketball. Evelyn Helton and Julia Wood for skill on the basketball court. The members of the Journalism Club who did so much typing for the Literary Issue. Christine Langseth for her very good contributions to the Writers' Club. Alan McMillan and Daphine Sprouse for excellent debating. Charles Scott who joined the Navy, in the late fall of 1941.
