Members of the Chrestomathian Literary Society are prominent in many branches of school activities. especially in forensics. The society has taken part in inter-club debating. basketball. and tennis. An important move made by the Chrestos during the past year was to stop par- ticipating in social events. ln order to segregate the club from all social functions that detract from literary work. this society decided to abolish informals. joints. and club picnics. However. later in the year joint meetings with the Erodelphians were held again. The Chrestos meet every Friday evening at seven-thirty o'clock in the club room which they share with the Erodelphian Literary Society. I Cyn . foi- . -1 LITERARY SOCIETIES , r L .Y . In living up to their motto. 'iLife without literature is death , the Delphs have many literary programs, but they also put on programs for the entertainment of the members. These pro- grams are given at the regular meetings of the club every Friday afternoon at three o'clock. The meetings. to which guests are usually invited, are held in the club room on the fourth floor of the building. The' Erodelphian Literary Society has competed in the inter-club declamatory contest and also in the short story contest held by the three girls' literary societies. Joint meetings were held with the Chrestomathians, Delph brother society, fol- lowing all but one of the elections of new members. 1 1 it ff ' LITERARY socrerles One hundred eighteen
