GIRLS RASKETBALL The girls basketball team had a very success- ful season, having played thirteen games, winning six. The teams played were Clerason, Walhalla, Seneca, Six Mile, Easley, Westminister, and Dacusville. In the tournament at Anderson, Central defeated Belton. Three of the players were seniors. Frankie Sue Elliott, Mary Eugenia Dudley, and Mildred Newton were on the team for five years and were a part of the 1946 team that won the District Championship at Ander- son and then went to Newberry for Upper State, win- ning over Jordan, BOYS' BASKETBALL The boys basketball team also had a success- ful season, having played thirteen games, winning nine. Both boys and girls played the same teams. In the tournament at Anderson, Central defeated Iva. Tommy Newton and Chester Williams came back to the team after serving some time in the Navy. There were four other senior players. Billy Griffin, Billy Ray Wilson, Charles Rice and Karl Kelley. FOOTBALL Football was resumed this year after being dis- continued during the war. Chester Williams, James Gibson and Earl Moore, also James Bracken, manager of the team, who after several years in service, ret- urned to finish their last year in school. They gave Coach Vernon Elrod a great deal of help in or- ganizing the team. In all there were eight senior boys on the team. J
