Qvrezyn far Cenfral was privileged fhis year in having fwo foreign sfudenfs enrolled under The auspices of fhe American Field Service. Claude Godin, who is sfaying wifh Mr. and Mrs. Sfe- phen Andracek, came fo us from Liege, Belgium. Our beaufiful frees and organized arrangemenf of blocks immediafely impressed Claude in fhaf fhey are quife differenf from fhe winding sfreefs fhaf are characfer- isfic of Liege. Vvhen asked how Cenfral has impressed him, Claude answered, Everyone is so friendly. l-le likes The idea of being able fo choose elecfive subiecfs buf feels if is impossible fo learn enough abouf each one. Popcorn and hamburgers were unknown fo Claude unfil he came fo fhis counfry. To be sure, if is quife a differenf sfory now. Claude's hobbies and inferesfs include fishing, farm- ing, baskefball, and fennis. ln fhe fufure, Claude plans fo enfer fhe diplomafic service. OTTO VAN RHOON CLAUDE GODIN Offo von Rhoon, who is residing wifh Mr. and Mrs. l-Ienry Beyer, has been our visifing sfudenf from Keizerse grachf, Amsferdam, Nefherlands, fhis year. Upon asking Qffo how he liked fhe Unifed Sfafes, he replied, The Unifed Sfafes is wonderful and The people are kind and friendly. Qur food is also very agreeable fo Offo, who has gained several pounds since his arrival. The lockers along our halls were complefely new fo Offo. The ofher disfincf difference befween Cenfral and his former school is fhe size of enrollmenf. Offo comes from a school of 600 sfudenfs. In Holland, Offo poinfed ouf, sfudenfs have 'rhe same inferesls as American sfudenfs-sporfs, dafing and fhe like. Buf, fhey have less fime 'ro parficipafe in such acfivifies because much of fheir fime is occupied wifh sfudy. Qffo has gradualed from high school and plans fo become a chemisf. 7
