ractice and pleasure through music The first public appearance of the orchestra this year was at the National Honor Society induction. Soon after this big event, the musicians chosen for Where's Charley began the giant task of making musical scores come to life. ln November the full orchestra lthe top chair woodwinds from band com- plete this ensemblej presented its annual Winter Concert which included the classics, popular songs, and musical games. Students always seemed busy preparing their selections for the solo and ensemble contest which is held in January. Eligible contestants may then enter the district and state contests. Each April the orchestra enters the state contest and pre- sents its annual Spring Concert for the enioyment of all. Rehearsing for the annual Northern Indiana Spring Contest is our Central High School Orchestra. This group has been a perennial winner among the competing groups. Their goal tor this year? lt's a first division rating again.

Who can easily forget the wonderful music presented by Miss Weber's group for our annual Christmas program? Each year students take a break from busy classes to hear the music which cheers us for the com- ing Christmas holiday. Among the selec- tions are the traditional hymns and the mer- ry carols which highlight this season. The members of the Glee Club, besides being good singers, are talented actors and ac- tresses as evidenced by the leads in our Senior play, Where's Charley?, and the All- City production, Gypsy Baron. New robes are also additions to help create a more musical spirit wherever the Glee Club ap- pears. She keeps us singing is a group of words that could easily apply to Miss Weber, who is in charge of the glee club. Here she is shown as she looks over the music she is now using. be a great asset to our school functions. imml ' 7 l 'X S iv. .
