Her dedication will never be forgotten. Gladys always has a cheery smile as she prepares the cafeteria for lunch. For all her hard work and patience as head cook through the years, we felt we should recognize her in our 1980 Hi-Lites. 2 IN DEDICA TION TO DANIEL WADE GENE PARKER Mr. Wade has always made Driver’s Ed. a fun as well as interesting class, instead of just a requirement of the law. The “scholars” of Central High salute you, by dedicating this edition of the Central High Lites to you, Dan Wade. Mr. Parker has many teaching responsibilities here at Central. He teaches Economics Business Law, Clerical Practice, typing, Consumer’s Ed., and Work Study. For all the work and patience he’s had in his teaching, we would like to show our appreciation by dedicating this Central Hi-Lites to him. Everyone enjoyed the seven hour bus ride to get there. Once we arrived at the Albert Pick Motor Lodge, the group took a chilling swim. Later we went to the Archie Campbell Mall and next to a bigger shopping mall. At 9:00 p.m. we returned to our motel for a relaxing night’s rest(????). The next day, we went on a bus tour of Nashville. The class visited the old and new Grand 01:‘ Opry House. There were also many more exciting sites to view. In the afternoon, we invaded Opryland and stayed there until 8:00 p.m., after which we returned to our motel for a last night party. On Sunday, May 11, we attended a religious service at The Upper Room and then headed homeward bound. The class would like to especially thank our fearless sponsors-Mr. and Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Wittier, Mr. and Mrs. Meyer, and Ms. Davidson. Our sponsors. During November-December, advertising was sold all over the area, and over $1000 was collected — an all-time record! As the year wore on, however, the Central Hi-Lites suffered a few setbacks. Woltz Studios gave us many, many headaches when they failed to send us several dozen senior pictures and also the drama club organizational picture. Workers of the annual also became very scarce, and as a result, only eight dedicated staffers remained to finish the yearbook. They were Ms. Davidson, our faithful sponsor; Dorothy Kerr and Jill Myers, co-editors; and a handful of staffers-Susan Mixer, Darla Wittier, April Janssen, Rita Sue Hyer, and Jill Padgett. Nevertheless, we hope we have captured a few of those precious, priceless, humorous memories and have preserved them forever in the 1980 Central Hi-Lites. 66 ART CLUB L to R Dorene Schuster, Tammy Hughes, Vicki Irvin, Nancy Golden, Jeff VanKanagan, sponsor, Dell Ann Balk, Becky Green, Shera Lin Balk, Lisa Fleer 67 CENTRAL HIGH BAND seated: R. A special thanks to Mrs. Saul for all the work she’s done this year with the Drama Club. The Annual Staff wishes to apologize to each and every member of the Drama Club for omitting their organizational picture. Woltz Studio didn’t send it to us, so we did the best we could with what we had. We’d especially like to apologize to Rick Martin.
