This Is Our School This is our school. Nine months a year we walk through its crowded halls, study in its class rooms, and cheer our Panthers on to victory in the gym and on the athletic field. This is where we hold our dances, our banquets, our many activities and clubs, and our homecoming celebration. You know, we're proud of our school. Central has been serving the community for 21 years. It is located two miles north of Junction US 24 and Illinois 94, with over 400 students from unit district No. 3 in attendance. The building consists of fourteen classrooms, an auditorium, gym, office, library, bandroom, and kitchen. A baseball field, track-surrounded football field, parking lot with tennis courts, and lagoon make up the rest of our school. As you look through this annual, we hope you will remember all the good times and fun you had during the 1976-1977 school year. DEDICATION: GARY BRICKMAN The Many Faces of Gary Brickman Football Coach Track Coach Debator coaches football, track, and wrestling and teaches boys PE, Also, this year he fearlessly!?) undertook the responsibility of sponsoring the Annual Annual Staff Advisor Staff. We, the Annual Staff of CHS, are very grateful and to show our appreciation for his dedicated supervision and help, dedicate the 1976-1977 Central Hi-Lites annual to Coach Gary. 2 In Memory Of FRIENDS BEYOND I cannot think of them as dead, Who walk with me no more; Along the path of life I tread-They have but gone before. The Father's House is mansioned fair, Beyond my vision dim; All souls are His, and here or there Are living unto Him. Debby And Linda Deborah Sue Davison Born: February 19, 1959 Died: September 11, 1976 And still their silent ministry within my heart hath place, As when on Earth they walked with me, And met me face to face. Their lives are made forever mine; What they to me have been Hath left henceforth its seal and sign Engraven deep within. Mine are they by an ownership Nor time nor death can free; For Cod hath given to love to keep Its own eternally. Frederick L. Another food stop What else are buses good for? Right, Tenhouse? Senior Trip After school Thursday, May 12, the Seniors left on their overnight trip to St. Louis. At 7 p.m. we arrived at Fairview Plaza where we shopped until 9 p.m. We then headed for our motel, Days Inn, for a good night's sleep (which no one got). The next morning we toured Busch Brewery. Contrary to common belief, no samples were given. We next visited the St. Louis Zoo where we saw all the pretty (?) animals and toured an Art Museum. Then for the climax of the trip, we traveled to Six Flags. There were great rides and shows, and most of the class got up enough nerve to ride the World's Biggest and Fastest Rollercoaster, the Screaming Eagle, and a few even dared to ride the Highland Fling. We got back to Central about 4:30 a.m. ready and raring for prom that night. A Day At The Zoo 33 Baccalaureate Exercises May 22, 1977 Processional Invocation Vocal .... Address Vocal .... CO-EDITORS Mary Adrian Raena Balk PHOTOGRAPHER Phil Adam SPONSOR Gary Brickman The Annual Staff this year finished the yearbook earlier than last year, thanks to a more organized staff. With two good, knowledgeable co-editors and a great sponsor, we got started and worked hard during the school year. Though the workers slacked off in the summer, a few of the more energetic members finally finished the annual just after the deadline. The other members of the Annual Staff wish to give special thanks to Nancy, Bev, Coach Gary, and our photographer Phil Adam.
