She was one of the Illinois State Scholarship finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Salutatorian Wanda Sharp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Sharp, has lived in Camp Point all her life and is a member of the First Christian Church there. Her activities include newspaper staff, and annual staff. She plans to work and attend college. 2). Jl. €. AU, The annual D.A.R. good citizenship award was presented to Elaine Dinklage, daughter of Mr. Carl R. Dinklage of Camp Point. She was a member of the FHA for four years, a member of the Plus Ultra, Latin Club, also secretary-treasurer of the Student Council. Elaine was the winner of the Betty Crocker Award. Sponsor for the year was Mrs . Blentlinger. In the fall of 1957, the doors of Central were again opened to its students. This year our Sophomore class lost Ralph Aden, James Beutel, Cecil Biswell, David Boss, Daniel Clapp, James Collins, Bonnie Davis, Jackie Goodwin, Dean Kindhart, Donald McClelland, Etta Miller, Gail and Gaylord Oitker, Karen Putnam, Earl Roberts, Arnold Tournear, and Larry Wright. We gained Herbert Booth, Raymond Fuhrman, Dorothy Myers, Donald Ray Rossiter, Ronnie Squier, Billy Lee Taylor, and Carolyn Griffen. Our class sponsor was David Allen. In the fall of 1958, we again entered the halls of Central, but this time as Jolly Juniors. Our class was sorry to report that we had lost Joyce Means, Gary Shake, and Billy Lee Taylor, but we gained Allen Moody and Inez Surratt. The class play was the Silver Sea Horse . The Junior Prom was held at Central High School in the gymnasium. It was decorated in pink, silver, and white colors. The class sponsors were Mrs . Bower and Mr. Parker. Returning in 1959, as Sophisticated Seniors, we lost Charles Booker, Mary Buss, Dean Flesner, Joyce Disselhorst, and Wanda Gillium. During the last semester we lost Forrest Likes, Gene Wear, and Diana Schlueter. We regained Herbert Booth. We elected Bonnie Hopson, President; Allen Gunn, Vice-President; Karen Wartick, Secretary; Mary Jean Janssen, Treasurer; Janet Scott, Reporter; and Ruth Haistings Student Council Representative. The year's activities consisted of taking senior pictures, ordering invitations, and preparing for graduation. We were guests at the Lincoln Douglas Ballroom for the Junior and Senior Prom. On our senior trip we spent two days at the Ozarks . Baccalaureate and Commencement exercises were held in the Central Gymnasium. This concluded four happy, fun-filled years of high school. The senior sponsors were Mrs. Hufnagel and Mr. Hamilton.
