HISTORY GOLDEN DIVISION The doors of Golden High School opened in the fall of 1953 to twenty-four eager freshmen. They were: James Adm, Pat Aden, Robert Aden, Anita Anderson, Roger Beinhoff, Freddie Burns, Jack Burrow, Annette Buss, Larry Ehmen, Mary Ann Eilers, Shirley Gooding, Kay Harden, Joan Kinrnan, Bill Leenerts, Larry Leenerts, Rosemary Leenerts, MerleLeerhoff, Carol Miller, James Patton, Norma Post, Marjorie Riggins, Ronald Saathoff, Esther Schuster, and Don Turner. The following class officers were elected: James Patton, President, Larry Ehmen, Vice-President, Annette Buss, Secretary-Treasurerg Pat Aden. Reporter. Mr. Shanks was our class sponsor. We returned in '54 as Sophomores welcoming John Tjadeng Don Turner did not return. Joan Kinman did not complete the school term. Officers were: Roger Beinhoff, President, Esther Schuster, Vice-Presidentg Pat Aden, Secretary-Treasurer: Mr. Wagy was our class sponsor. During the school year, we had a skating party and a Halloween party. CAMP POINT DIVISION In the fall of 1953, thirty-three green freshmen entered the halls of Camp Point High School. The members of the class were: Virginia Austin, Larry Balzer, Betty Balt, Mariana Berman, Floyd Blentlinger, Gerald Blentlinger, Larry Butcher, Terry Cady, Ronald Cantrell, Luella Cookson, Kenneth Dagget, Gary DeWitt, Wayne Gibson, Bill Green, Evan Heins, Nancy Hogan, Lois Hopson, Marlene Huntley, Glenda Jud, Roger Lepper, Irvin Miller, Doris Mixer, Marilyn Myers, Anna Marie Nall, Wilma Norris, Carl Ogle, Larry Riutzel, Kay Rutledge, Marjorie Schwartz, Don Sprenger, Don Stabler, Betty Jean Tieken, and Loralee Watkins. Miss Shay was our class sponsor. Initiation day was a big event for us. We sponsored a skating party during the year. ln the fall of '54, we returned as silly sophomores. During the course of the year, we lost the following members: Roger Lepper, Marjorie Schwartz, Gerald Blentlinger, Mariana Berman, Ronald Cantrell, Bill Green, and Nancy Hogan, but we gained Jerry Booth and Bob Newell. Mr. Hagerman was our class sponsor and we enjoyed our sophomore year without too much excitement. CLAYTON DIVISION In 1953, a score of freshmen entered Clayton High School. The twenty students were Ruth Ann Wear, Shirley Buss, Mary Jane Pratt, Joyce Bowen, Lois Brown, Carolyn White, Joan Clark, Silbur Mixer, Earl Mason, Elsie Lane, Ella Marie Meaders, Murlene'Smith, Junior Lane, Wayne Lierly, Fredic Mason, Carlos Kindhart, Larry Rittenhouse, Bob Newell, Kenneth Weisheit, and Charles Eidson. Theclass officers were: Charles Eidson, President: Bob Newell, Vice-President, and Ruth Ann Wear, Secretary-Treasurer. Miss Winter and Mr. Van Ormer were the class sponsors. Fifteen members made up the sophomore class. Lois Brown, Carolyn White, Silbur Mixer, and Junior Lane did not retumg Bob Newell transferred to Camp Point. The 1954-55 ofncers were: Joyce Bowen, Presidentg Kenneth Weisheit, Vice-President: and Ella Marie Meaders, Secretary- Treasurer. Mrs. Evans and Mr. Sherman were the class sponsors. 24
