L 'I I Lg, 11' .. CENTRAL HI-LIGHTS Of CENTRAL COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL Unit District No. 3 Camp Point, Illinois Volume 2, 1957 SCHOOL SONG We will back you, our Central High School, We will back you to victory. Banners fly for Central High School, 'Cross the sky they seem to cry - Rah! Rah! Loyal sons are marching on, Marching on from dawn to dawn. We're defenders of black and gold Saying, Onward for Central High! fClap, clap, and 15 rahsj STAFF Editor ....... . . Joyce Bowen Assistant Editor .... . .Anita Anderson Production Manager . .... Pat Aden Business Manager . . . .Norma Post I 1 f'. '1m ' WMEMCRY o W Karen Putnam ' The Other Room In my Father's House are many rooms. No, not cold beneath the grasses, Not close-walled within the tome: Rather, in my fathers mansion, Living in another room. Living, like the one who loves me, Like yon child with cheeks abloom, Out of sight, at desk or school-book, Busy in another room. Nearer than the youth whom fortune Beckons where the strange lands loom: Just behind the hanging curtain, Serving in another room. Shall I doubt my Father's mercy? Shall I think of death as doom, Or the stepping o'er the threshold To a bigger, brighter room? Shall I blame my Father's wisdom? Shall I set enswathed in gloom, When I know my love is happy, Waiting in the other room? --Robert Freeman 2 Al AA-.x4a..an..JllBtr. d1.1..baii..4it1.a 1. ' my-.ii.s. '. .,Q's2.na,...a. The squad dropped their next two games but then fought back to win six in a row. From then on the season was up and down for the team. The team was handicapped by injuries throughout the season but played with the school spirit all of the time. Three of the Panthers' wins were scored in the Wenois Toumament, to which Central was host. During the season the team played in two overtime games, winning one from Mt. Sterling and losing the other to Carthage. The Panthers kepntheir fans on the edge of their seats in most all of the games, winning many of them in the last few seconds. In the Mt. Sterling Regional, Cam-al defeated Meredosia but cou1dn't quite handle Pittsfield. The team is looking forward to a great season next year, as it is only losing three of its top players. -4 ...- This page is sponsored by HINCHIES GROCERY AND FEED STORE, Columbus, Illinois 50 CENTR L S ARS ROBERT fSpikeJ ADEN Pepperpotn ROGER fBounderj REUSCHEL The Springboard MERLE fStandbyJ LEERHOFF WAYNE 01000 GIBSON Wrong Way TERRY fArchj KOONTZ F1atfoot Go Left, Young Man G FG FT FTM F TP Merle Leerhoff 26 184 160 64 '70 528 Roger Reuschel 25 97 132 49 77 326 Terry Koontz 26 95 37 32 54 227 Wayne Gibson 26 60 44 29 48 164 Charles Lawless 19 44 21 61 28 109 Tom Schutte 26 23 35 31 32 81 Robert Aden 24 14 29 18 52 57 Wendell Gunn 20 11 6 10 20 28 Kent Lueders 11 5 1 2 6 11 Larry Ehmen 8 6 1 5 12 13 David Patton 13 3 2 4 9 8 Denny Hendricks 2 4 0 1 1 8 Robert Baird 11 2 0 8 2 4 Ierry Ideus 2 1 0 1 1 2 Larry Oenning 3 0 1 3 1 1 549 469 318 412 1567 RESERVE SQUAD Lueders fmanagerj, Hopson, Miller, Hendricks, Ia- cobs fmanagerj.
