In 1952, as we entered school as Sophomores, we hadlost three members: Wanda Friday, Glen Smay, and Harry Kindhart. Nona Knight served as President; Faye Lierly as Vice-President; Donald Stevens as Secretary-Treasurer; and Mr. Rabbitt and Mrs. Evans as sponsors. When the doors of Clayton High once more swung open in 1953, we entered as Juniors, Sixteen members were present. Donald Stevens was elected President; Melvin Vonholt, Vice-President; and DavidHigley, Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Hufnagel and Mrs. Stevens were our sponsors. We were very excited over our class play and tte prom. In the year of 1954, we returned as Seniors with thirteen members present. Class officers were Nona Knight, President; Carole Parn, Vice-President; Martha Shank, Treasurer; and Faye Lierly, Secretary. Mr. Clapper and Mr. Van Ormer served as class sponsors. Our class pictures, the annual, our Senior trip, and graduation were of great importance to us. Golden Division We, now the graduating Seniors, first entered the halls of Golden High School as Green Freshmen in 1951. With Mrs. Naomi Hyer as sponsor, the following took office: Donna Post, President; Barbara Post, Vice-President; Joleen Buss, Secretary; Jerry Gunn, Treasurer. In the middle of the first semester, Shirley Keim moved which left us the following Freshmen: Gene Aden, Paul Aden, Norma Allen, Meda Bennett, Joleen Buss, Barbara Durin, Geneva Flesner, Larry Gronewold, Jerry Gunn, Melvin Housten, Lois Ideus, Jo Ann Leenerts, Dennis Nixon, Barbara Post, Donna Post, Myron Post, Elnora Saathoff, and Eunice Saathoff. Wereturnedas Sophomores with Mr. Norman Batleyas sponsor and the following officers: Larry Gronewold, President; Lois Ideus, Vice-President; Donna Post, Secretary-Treasurer. As Juniors, we again returned. Two additions were made to our class, Jerald Flesner and Danile Bowman, and we lost one member, Dennis Nixon. Mrs. Blanche Hill was our sponsor. The officers were: Jo Ann Leenerts, President; Jerald Flesner, Vice-President; Lois Ideus. Secretary; Norma Allen, Treasurer. During the year, we presented our play, Bashful Bertie. With the Juniors of Camp Point and Clayton, we gave the annual Junior-Senior Prom tor the Seniors. It was held at Rushville, Illinois on May 9, 1954. We also selected and received our class rings. Thus the Junior year was ended. We returned as Seniors in 1954. Jerald Flesner did not return and Geneva Flesner and Barbara Durbin left during the first semester. The officers were: Barbara Post, President; Paul Aden, Vice-President; and Joleen Buss, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Walter McKinley was our class sponsor and advisor. With this ends the history of the remaining sixteen graduates of Central High School of Golden. 20

Central Class History Camp Point Division As Green Freshmen , we began our career of high school with the following members: Melvin Austin, Elizabeth Baxa, Emil Blobaum, Charlotte Booth, Glenn Cunningham, Eileen Daggett, Ross Davis, Bill Dieterle , Marta Jean Faulkner, Anne Haistings , Connie Harkness, Ann Hibbert, Shirley Holzgrafe, Darryl Hunsaker, Freddie Janssen, Laurence Kauffman, Robert Koontz, Sharon Marshall, Glenn McGartland, Henry Moellring, Lois Jean Nelson, Barbara Newton, Lorelei Roland, Charles Rose, Ronald Secrest, Leslie Shuster, Virginia Thomas, Roger Vollbraht, and Keith Williams. Under the guidance of our class sponsor, Mr. Shanks, and the junior class, we were initiated. We studied very hard and joined extra-curricular organizations such as F.H.A., Plus Ultra, Band, Chorus, and athletics. As Silly Sophomores , we returned to school the following year. During the course of the year we lost the following members: Elizabeth Baxa, Ross Davis, and Ronnie Secrest, but we gained Robert Goodwin and Robert Strong. Mrs. Blentlinger was our sponsor and we enjoyed our sophomore yea without too much excitement. We returned to school as Jolly Juniors without Melvin Austin and Laurence Kauffman. This year began a series of activities. Under the direction of our sponsor, Mrs. Wick-liffe, we had many play practices and finally produced our great Junior Class play, No More Homework. Shortly after the play we received our class rings. On May 7, 1954, we sponsored the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom at Rushville, Illinois. The juniors with the highest grades ushered at Baccalaurate and Commencement. Thus ended our Junior year. In the fall of 1954, we came back to school for the last year as Sophisticated Seniors. We lost the following members: Darryl Hunsaker and Roger Vollbracht, but we gained Rose Mary Flesner and David Johnson. Under the guidance of our newspaper and annual advisor, Mrs. Brinkman, we published monthly our newspaper, The Central Gazette. On October 21, we had our senior pictures taken. We greatly enjoyed the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom and our senior trip. We are sincerely happy and a little sad to graduate from good old Central High School. Clayton Division We, the Seniors, like to look back to the year of 1951 when we. entered Clayton High School as Green Freshmen. We started out with nineteen in our class, which included Wanda Friday, Bonnie Baker, Shirley Frankel, Ruby Winfield, Shirley Kauffman, Faye Lierly, Martha Ruth Shank, Lu Ann Vancil, Nona Knight, Carole Parn, Barbara Buss, Harry Kindhart, Donald Stevens, Melvin Vonholt, Jon Dunham, Wallace Bowman, Dick Bunte, David Higley, and Glen Smay. We elected Nona Knight, President; Carole Parn, Vice-President; and Jon Dunham, Secretary-Treasurer. Mr. Rabbitt and Mr. Van Ormer were our sponsors. During the year we had a hayride and wiener roast at David Higley's. 19

Central Class Will We, the members of the Senior class of Central High School, County of Adams, State of Illinois, do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by us at any time heretofore made. I, Gene Aden, leave my ability to get along with freshmen to Kent Bluhm and to Sidney Schoonover a reasonable amount ol mathematical skill. I, Paul Aden, do hereby will and bequeath my thinness to Janice Bubb and my ability to go steady to George Kestner. I, Norma Allen, will my shortness to Kent Bluhm and my long brown hair to Kay Harden. I, Meda Marlene Bennett, will my height and my nice, beautiful, plump, Miss America figure to Norma Post and my knowledge of Mrs. Hufnagel's age to Roger Beinhoff. I, Daniel Bowman, leave nothing to nobody because I need it all myself. I, Joleen Buss, do hereby will my ability to be put on committees to Larry Leenerts and my freckles to Sandra Ehmen. I, Larry Gronewold, will my ability to play basketball to Freddie Behrens and my ability to get along with the teachers to Robert Aden. I, Jerry Gunn, leave my curly hair to Barbara Walker and my tallness to Freddie Behrens. I, Melvin Houston, leave my car to James Aden and my brain to Robert Aden. I, Lois Ideus, do regretfully submit mv part interest in Tony Curtis to Donna Hufendick and my ability to get a seat in the back of the studyhall to James Aden. I, JoAnn Leenerts, leave my good looks, A-plus personality, and my height to Robert Aden, in hopes he can catch a girl, because I could never catch anything with them. I, Barbara Post, leave my interest in F.H.A. to Larry Ehmen and will to Mary Ann Flesner one slightly used cornet mute. I, Donna Post, hereby will my first chair position in band to Kenneth Buss providing he doesn't get it before I graduate and my ability to be late to school to anyone who believes in getting there early. I, Myron Post, leave to Mary Ann Flesner my ability to have two free periods to read magazines and to Leroy Carstens my talent in shop. I, Elnora Saathoff, will my shorthand book to Marvin Ihnen, and cleaning of desks to Lavon Post, I, Eunice Saathoff, will my future red Cadillac convertible to Ruth Johnson and my height to Gene Janssen providing he gives Mrs. Hufnagel about two inches of it. I, Dick Bunte, do will and bequeath my ability to spin the tops off of ink bottles to Larry Ritten-house who has a good start. I, Barbara Buss, do will Charles R's address to Marlene Means. I, Jon Dunham, do will and bequeath my ability to Make Out to my brother, David, and my Panther abilities to Earl Mason and hope they take advantage of these as I did. I, Shirley Frankel, do will and bequeath to Marlene Means my fondness of Mercurys; and the ditto machine in the office to Mrs. Jefferson. I, David Higley, do will and bequeath my ability to break pencils in the study hall; and my parking place in front of the school house to Glen Powers. I, Nona Knight, do will and bequeath my ability to be good in home ec. class to Shirley Leenerts, and my quiet ways to Wanda May. I, Carole Parn, do will and bequeath my cheerleading uniform to Murlene Smith, and short hair to Wanda May. I know they can put them to good use. I, Martha Ruth Shank, do will and bequeath my ability to tease Wanda May to Ella Marie Meaders to make sure Wanda won't ever have a dull day. I, Donald Stevens, do will and bequeath my fondness for algebra to Marilyn Baird; and my ability to restrain myself in the fourth hour studyhall to Kenneth Weisheit. I, Lu Ann Vancil, do will and bequeath my tight skirts to Murlene Smith in the hope that someday she will be able to wear them. I, Melvin Vonholt, do will and bequeath my ability to get poor grades in English to Gene Collins and my history book to Bob Donley. I, Ruby Winfield, do will and bequeath my ability to go with guys with new cars to Marlene Means, and the Nickname, peanuts , to Janice Parn. I, Faye Lierly, do will and bequeath my ability to be good in home ec. class to Shirley Leenerts, and my quiet ways to Wanda May. 21
