Class Prophecy Just think! 1974, and here I am watching Central play Unity in the new Central Stadium. A far cry from the time when Central High was still in three buildings at Golden, Clayton,a nd Camp Point. And look! there are the Seniors of 54 who graduated from those three schools. I wonder if they’re having a class reunion, I heard a rumor that this was their homecoming. Do you know what each one is doing now. If you do, I wish you’d tell me. Well--let me begin with Shirley Aden is now secretary for the new Central High School that has just been completed. We hear Roger Aden has just returned from Reno after divorcing his seventh wife. Doing good for a beginner, isn’t he ? ? ? ? ? ? Bernice Barry is head secretary and typist for Bower Inc. And Dale Bent has taken over the position as minister in the Christian Church since Rev. Fiscus retired. In high school days, remember Gerald Buss as Arthur Godfrey. We understand he has taken over Arthur Godfrey and all of his little Godfreys. We have been informed that Emily Post has retired and Elaine Bluhm has taken over. She has passed a rule “Wash Hands Before Meal Time.“ Donald Brady is now drawing cartoons for the CLAYTON SURPRISE. Gee! There’s Leroy Gerdes a famous stock car driver. And I understand he’s never had a flat yeL I think Lowell Buss is going to give a small sketch from his Broadway show--Kiss Me, Kate. You remember Lowell as Central High’s famous woman lover. Joan Brinkman, now Mrs. Curtis Hibbert, is busy raising her five sons. And Jean Blentlinger is copywriter for the Chicago Tribune. Wilbur Booth is going to college, majoring in English; other students wonder how he makes his good grades without studying. In between halves we were entertained by a world famous toe dancer--Betty Bruns. Betty also has her own school and gives weekly lessons over K. H. Q. A. - T. V. Sitting next to me is Joan Busboom, the model of Queen Elizabeth Clothes. She came all the way from London, just for this great event. Marie Buskirk helps her husband run a saw mill near Five Points. And Jay Bower is now a chief surgeon in the Mayo Clinic. Ann Boyles, who was always very fond of limburger cheese, is now presenting a program with the Lucions Limburger Cheese Co. as her sponsor. (This is the strongest program of the year.) Marge Carpenter is now Supervisor of Nurses in St. Mary’s Hospital. Donald Clark is Ace number one car salesman for CHRYSLER-PLYMOUTH SALES AND SERVICE OF CLAYTON. My! this is a small world. Little Abner (Raymond Albers) just flew in from Dog Patch. Wonder how he made out in the Sadie Hawkins Day Race ? Verna Behrens, who once worked for a Taxi Service, has just started a business of her own. Dick Dieterle married Martha Ruth Shank and they are running a large service station in Clayton. And Max Durfee is head engineer at the DuPont factory. Wayne Ennen is now teaching basketball to the girls P-E class of CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL. Did you know Barbara Higley is now the wife of the winner of the Indianapolis 500 ? Marjorie Martin is a nurse in Michael Reece Hospital in Chicago. Jim Myers now owns and operates a 500 acre farm near Camp Point. 24

Alice Hufendick, who was a great typist in high school, has just been offered the position as personal typist for the President of the United States. And Maralee Frazen has in her possession the “Betty Gay store for whose dresses she designs herself. Larry Galloway is now the famous strickly “One-man Ha Ch Chacha Cha band that broadcasts occasionally from Fern Hill. Darlene Gunn has just resigned her position as head secretary at Moorman’s and married Harry Duvall. Marilyn Guenther, now Mrs. Jim Clevenger is living on a 1000 acre ranch in Montana raising Angus cattle. And Janice Hanke, now Mrs. Denton Nall, is head nurse in the U. N. Hospital in Soeul, Korea. Carson Hibbert is chief accountant in a Wall Street Bank in New York. Lois Hogan married the president of the telephone company and is now busy raising little telephone operators. Patsy Kestner still writes “Dear John Letters.” We hear Ronald Janssen and his new car aren’t in the garage as much as he and his Plymouth were. How many times was it, Ronnie ? ? ? ? I hear from Ronnie, that Mary Ihnen was in London last month, buying all new wardrobes for several movie stars. She handles money in a big way. Yvonne Mixer is bookkeeper for the new CHRYSLER-PLYMOUTH SALES AND SERVICES GARAGE. Julia Moellring is the Supervisor of the Old Maid Nursing Home of Pea Ridge. I happen to glance over and see that entire Section B was reserved for Hazel Mixer and her cheaper by the dozen family. You remember Hazel always did do things in a big way. Norma McCallister and her husband have just signed a contract with M. G. M. as a skating team. Virgil Leenerts has just returned from giving a Piano Recital in Carnegie Hall. He is not only famous for playing the piano by hand but also by ear. Carol Leenerts has just won an auctioneer contest for L. S. M. F. T. She has cried 19,989 sales and never once lost her voice. And Eunice Patton is now famous for her gum, “Droppa Pound” which she accidently discovered by chewing “Chum Gum” and “Bazooka.” There’s Mary Salisbury. I see she found time to get away from her large estate in the East. Mary is well known for her breed of pink poodles. Esther Schlueter has just written a famous book, “This I’ve Heard.” Her fame and experience has been reflected from her high school days. Darrell Schlueter is still a bachelor and is using automatic buttons to do his cleaning etc. Remember Carol Schuster as the editor of “The Panther.” She is now celebrating her twentieth anniversary as editor of the Chatton Gazette. JoAnne Stevens is now dealing in wrecked cars. Bobby Vonholt has taken over the Rounds Funeral Chapel in Mt. Sterling. Wilma Weisheit lives on a farm near Meyer, Illinois, and raises Holstein cows. Ronnie Vollbracht is a rich bachelor who farms in the summer and goes to Florida for the winter. James w ortman is now a freak speed demon, who, as you remember, raced down the Main Streets of Golden. You remember Don Wallace and his famous gorilla act. It seems he is so famous he is working on Broadway with Frankenstein, Inc. You know this afternoon has just flown by for me. The game was exciting and all the news about the 54 Seniors was just terrific. Well, I’d better be going home. P. S. Central won 21 to 0.
