One year later in the fall of 52 we returned as jolly Juniors. We found that Wendell Akers had moved and Linda Beherns got married. Junior class officers were Carol Schuster, President; Eunice Patton, Vice-President; Lowell Buss, Secretary-Treasurer; and Mrs. Hill, advisor. We had lots of fun giving the class play, “Quit Your Kidding, a three act comedy, which was a great success. We selected our class rings and held the Junior-Senior prom and banquet at the Country Club, Rushville, Illinois. We returned as Seniors in the fall of 53, Delois Albert got married, but we had gained Alice Hufendick. The officers elected were Roger Aden, President; Esther Schlueter, Vice-President; Alice Hufendick, Secretary-Treasurer; and Mr. McKinley is the advisor. Carnations were picked as the class flower, and the class motto is “With The Ropes Of The Past, We Will Ring The Bells Of The Future , and the class colors are white with black. We are looking forward to the day of graduation, but we will always remember our four years at G. H. S. Camp Point Division A class of twenty-three members enrolled at Camp Point in 1950 as “Green Freshmen. ’ The members were: Shirley Aden, Bernice Barry, Dale Bent, Wilbur Booth, Jay Bower, Joan Brinkman, Margie Carpenter, Dick Dieterle, Max Durfee, Norma Embree, Jackie Ferguson, Marilyn Guenther, Darlene Gunn, Ronnie Heubner, Carson Hibbert, Lois Hogan, Marcia Lefferinghouse, Marjorie Martin, Jim Myers, Darrell Schlueter, Vern Sheets, Ronald Vollbracht, and John Wardlow. Mr. Shanks was our class sponsor. Initiation day was a big event for us. We looked miserable in our many costumes but it was the big day of the year. We also sponsored a weiner roast our Freshman year. In 1951 we returned as silly Sophomores with three new members. They were Janice Hanke, Ariel Rogers, and Jean Blentlinger who joined us the second semester. Mrs. Blentlinger was our class sponsor. As jolly Juniors we returned in 1952 with twenty-two members. Jackie Ferguson, Marcia Leffer inghouse, Ariel Rogers, and John Wardlow didn’t return. Mrs. Wickliffe and Mr. Cuba were our class sponsors. The two big highlights of the year were our class play, “Powerful Medicine ’ and the Junior-Senior prom and banquet. The banquet was held in Rushville with music furnished by the Jimmie Delebar Orchestra. We initiated the Freshmen and were hosts to an all-school Christmas party this year. We returned as Seniors in 1953 with only twenty members. Ronald Heubner and vern Sheets did not return. Mrs. Brinkman was our sponsor for the school paper and the annual. Mr. Pacatte and Miss Damrow were our class sponsors. The class flower chosen was the white carnation, the colors were black and white, and our motto was “With The Ropes Of The Past We Will Ring The Bells Of The Future. The graduation pictures, ordering of announcements, Junior-Senior prom and banquet, Senior trip, and the annual were important events to the Seniors. We are all looking forward to graduation, but sincerely regret leaving high school and all of the good times we have had.

Central Class History Clayton Division In September 1951, seventeen timid Freshmen enrolled in Clayton High School. They were: Donald Brady, Marie Buskirk, Patsy Kestner, Donald Clark, Bobby Vonholt, Wayne Ennen, Julis Moellring, Barbara Higley, JoAnne Stevens, Wilma Weisheit, Betty Sparks, Monita Sally, Marjorie Wear, Harry Kindhart, Janice Hanke, Shirley Shank and Donetta Smith. The following officers were elected: President, Janice Hanke; Vice-President, Donald Brady; Secretary, JoAnne Stevens; and Treasurer, Marie Buskirk. We had a weiner roast during the year. Our sponsors were Lyle Lewis and Richard Rabbitt. In 1952, we returned as silly Sophomores. We were sorry to say that four of our class did not return. They were: Janice Hanke, who moved west of Camp Point and entered Camp Point High School, Betty Sparks, Donnetta Smith, and Harry Kindhart. The following officers were elected: President, Donald Brady; Vice-President, Wayne Ennen; Secretary, Patsy Kestner; and Treasurer, Bobby Vonholt. We enjoyed a hayrack party during the year. Our sponsors were Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Evans. In 1953 we came back to school as jolly Juniors. We lost three students. They were: Shirley Shank, Marjorie Wear, and Monita Sally, but gained Yvonne Mixer from Liberty. The following officers were elected: President, Julia Moellring; Vice-President, Wayne Ennen; Secretary, Wilma Weisheit; and Treasurer, Donald Brady. During the year we enjoyed a hayrack party and a skating party. Most of all we enjoyed the class play entitled, “Hillbilly Weddin , directed by Mrs. Betty Jefferson, and the Prom which we gave at “The Virginia in Scripp Park, Rushville, Illinios with the Seniors, faculty, and .board members as our guests. After a long wait, we were happy to receive our class rings toward the end of the year. In the fall of 1954, we entered Clayton High School as dignified Seniors. The following officers were elected: President, Donald Brady; Vice-President, Bobby Vonholt; Secretary, Julia Moellring, and Treasurer, Yvonne Mixer. We enjoyed a weiner roast at the Clayton Lake. Our sponsors were Mr. Clapper and Mr. Van Ormer. We enjoyed ordering our announcements and pictures. The prom and the annual were great events. We are now awaiting our Senior trip, but most of all we are looking forward to Graduation Day. Golden Division In the fall of 1950, twenty-eight green hearted Freshmen entered the inspiring halls of Golden High. The class consisted of Lowell Buss, President; Joan Busboom, Vice-President; Gerald Buss, Secretary-Treasurer; Verna Behrens, Hazel Mixer, Delois Albert, Eunice Patton, Elaine Bluhm, Betty Bruns, Maralee Franzen, Mary Jo Ihnen, Carol Leenerts, Linda Behrens, Ann Boyles, Esther Schueter, Virgil Leenerts, Ronald Janssen, Carol Schuster, Raymond Albers, Roger Aden, Virgil Haschemeyer, LeRoy Gerdes, Wendell Akers, Don Wallace, Larry Galloway, Wayne Akers, and Mrs. Roger Hyer, advisor. Shortly after school began, Ronald Parrick moved and Marvin Juilfs quit. After Christmas, Mary Salisbury and Jim Wortman joined our class. In the fall of 51 we returned as silly Sophomores. During the year Wayne Akers moved and Virgil Haschemeyer quit. We elected class officers as follows: Don Wallace, President; Virgil Leenerts, Vice-President; Carol Schuster, Secretary; and Esther Schlueter, Treasurer; with Miss Elliott as our advisor. We had a Sophomore party and sold consessions at basketball games. 18

Senior Class Poem This poem, dedicated to the class of 1954 Wishes each one success and good luck galore! Many memories will linger forever, Of the good times we've spent together. Verna Behrens, a short little gal, Mary Ihnen is her best pal. Jim Wortman with his black Chevrolet Takes Raymond Albers quite away. Maralee Franzen, not so old Is Betty Bruns’ aunt, so we’re told. Roger Aden is a mathimatical whiz Larry Galloway wishes he could get his. Carol and Virgil, mistaken for twins, Because their name with Leenerts ends. Joan Busboom, right on the beam, With Esther Schlueter likes to dream. Don Wallace and Gerald Buss With Ronald Janssen never fuss. Eunice Patton, who can hit high C, With Alice Hufendick you’ll often see. Carol Schuster, the algebra brain, Works out the problems with Lowell and Elaine. Mary Salisbury, a cute little blond, Of Hazel Mixer is very fond. Leroy Gerdes is better known as “Leak”, When Ann Boyles has a sore throat, she can’t speak. Norma McCallister and Janice Hanke, Singers on Broadway might someday be. Dale Bent, Marilyn Guenther, and Joan Brinkman are band students in the C. P. class. If you don’t believe they can tootle, just ask. Wilbur Booth claims he is a busy boy, When the paper comes out, he and Max Durfee jump for joy. Carson Hibbert is a lively young lad, Darrell Schlueter and Dick Dieterle-just as bad. 20
