The Senior Class H zstory In the fall of 1947 twenty six Freshmen enrolled in C H S The following class offi cers were elected President Gene Johnson, Vice President, Bob Shank, Secretary Darlene Diseron, Treasurer B111 Artis and Sponsor Coach Tucker In October we spon sored a hayrack party and wnener roast At Christrnas time we enjoyed an all school Christmas party We looked forward to next year when we would return as full fledged Soph omores In September 1948, we returned as Sophomores with sixteen members of the old class All but six of our class returned Waldo and Walter Kindhart, Dean Padgett Sue McGlauchlen and Merle and Monthe Sally these having dropped out during the school year 1947 Three new members moved in, Eldon Weisheit and Don Walton from Liberty I-hgh School, and about the end of the year Maude Collins entered from Biggsville The officers elected were Presxdent, B111 Artis Vice President Eldon Weisheit Secretary, Darlene Diseron Treas urer, Sidney Mae Scott and Sponsor, Coach Ross ln the fall of 49 nineteen members returned as Juniors Sidney Mae Scott had moved to Bowen and Glen H111 entered from Liberty I-hgh School The officers elected were President Eldon Weisheit Vice President, Gene Johnson Secretary and Treasurer Keith Marsh and Sponsors Mrs Jefferson and Mrs Stevens Our first big event was the Class Play The Campbells Are Coming directed by Mrs Jefferson Next event was choosing our class rmgs Then came the Junior and Senior Prom and Banquet with the help of Mrs Jefferson The theme was carried out in circus style with music furnished by Russ Reichert s Orchestra from Quincy This ended a very successful year In the fall of 50 seventeen Seniors returned Two of our class, Gene Johnson and elected President Bob Shank Vice President Wilma O Dear Secretary, Maude Collins Treasurer, Eldon Weisheit and Mr Clapper and Mr Van Ormer Sponsors The Junior and Senior Class Play Our Miss Brooks , was a big success We ended our Senior year with a Banquet and Prom given by the Juniors Class W11I We the members of the Senior Class of Clayton I-hgh Adams County state of Illinois, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be our own last will and testament hereby re vokmg all former wills and codicils bw us at any time heretofore made We, the Seniors, affectionately bequeath to our beloved faculty, our courteous rnanner, our studious ways, and our good behavior We the Seniors bequeath to the Juniors our ability to get rich quick in hopes that they put it to good use We, the Seniors bequeath to the Sophomores our strong, handsome and brave men m hopes that in the coming years they will have as much voting power as we have had We, the Seniors, bequeath to the Freshmen our brilliant ideas and good grades for they will need them in the struggle ahead I, Don Walton, do will and bequeath my ability to drive and get along with the teachers to Jo Ann Johnson I Dale Hudelson , will my ambition to hunt to Ray Collins I Nancy Knight bequeath to Deloras Kelly my ability to sleep of a morning for she gets away with it better than I I Wilma O Dear, bequeath my short stature and dark hair to Wanda Clark who al ready has a good start with both I Eldon Weishext, will my old fashioned ideas to Richard Knight with the hope that they will protect him from trouble in the future as they have me in the past I Harry Vonl-lolt, will my ways of pulling wool over the teachers eyes to John Seibel I Glen Hill, will and bequeath my ability to get along with the Freshrnan girls to Donald Brady I Lloyd Tenhouse, wash to leave the privilege of hauling the P E boys to and from the Community Hall to Wesley Davis who has helped some during the past year I, Melvin Eidson, leave my ways with women to Fred Hendricks 2.9 n : ' . g ' - ' I , . - ' u - sn, - .
