Semor Class History When the doors of Golden Community High School opened on August 25 1947 there were seventeen Freshmen who enrolled After the fxrst few weeks of gettxng settled we elected the followmg officers Presndent, Jamce Aden Vxce Presxdent, Lloyd Crank Secretary, Arlo Walker, Treasurer, Leatrxce Noftz We elected Mrs Josephme Fxscher as our class sponsor Upon reiurnmg to school m September, 1948, we were promoted from lowly Freshmen to Sophomores We elected the following offxcers President Robert Nethery Vice President Eugene Folftz Secretary, Mary Beers and Treasurer Manan Aden Miss Erma Nxekamp served as our sponsor When the doors of dear old G H S opened rn the fall 1949, sixteen Jumors enrolled Robert Nethery, Arlo Walker and Herbert ldeus dxd not return to complete thexr Junxor year, but two new members, John Boyles and Margaret Smxth were add ed to our class roll Following officers were elected President Mary Beers Vice President, Leatrxce Noftz Secretary, Jamce Aden Treasurer, June Johnson Mrs Hall was our sponsor Our fxrst actwxty was the Jumor Class Play The Chintz Cottage Next big event was choosmg our class rxngs We ended the school year wlth a Prom and Banquet m honor of the Senror Class The theme of our prom was May Time The musxc was furmshed by Calvm Shank from Hanmbal This ended a successful year In the fall of 1950, we returned as Semors Two of our class, Lloyd Crank and Harold Schuster, but gamed two new members, James McC1arey and Alberta Salisbury Class officers were as follows President, James McClarey, Vice Presxdent, Jamce Aden, Secretary Marxan Aden Treasurer, Evelyn Post and spon sors, Mr McK1nley and Mr Johnston The fxrst bxg event was the selectxon of the announcements We chose our class colors blue and white, our class flower yellow tea rose and our class motto Forward Ever, Backward Never We took our Semor Class trap to St Louxs We ended our Semor year wxth a Banquet and Prom given by Juniors Semor Class W111 We, the Seniors of 1951 bemg of sane mxnd, leave all our worldly possessions the following lucky people To all the teachers we leave our charmxng personalxtxes, and all our wonderful characteristics e Juniors we leave all our Ame rxcan Hzstory books o the Sophomores we leave our excellent grades e Freshmen we leave the seats on the north srde of the Assembly Hall o Ed Txlton, our faithful Janitor, we, the Class of 1951, leave our paper wads that in the future years he can keep good old G H S warm and cheery I, June Johnson, leave my szlly laugh to Ronald Jansen and my abzlxty to go steady to Bill McKinley Chaxrmame I-lerren, leave my boy frrend to Deloxs Albert and red demm suzt to Merlene Schlueter Evelyn Post, leave my natural curly hazr to Lois Busboom and my neatness to Hazel Mixer I Mary Beers, leave my make up kat to Alxce Lawler and my long haxr to Judy Gunn I Melvin Ihnen, leave my bnlhant mind to Roy Boyles and my good grades to Don Wallace. 12 Q l .
