Life in provincial England in the earliest part of the nineteenth century is a far cry from our modern times, so it was a unique experience for the memhers of the cast of the Senior play to appear in this setting. lvloreover, the play was a dramatization of a novel that has delighted generations of readers, .lane Austen's classic, Pride and Prejudice. Miss Austen understood human nature so well that she was ahle to create characters that still seem real today. lt is the manners and customs of her time that seem strange to us, but they give the play its quaint charm. The director, the east, and the production committees all worked to get this effect across to the audience and succeeded admirably. Under the expert direction of Miss Dorothy Sonke the cast all gave fine performances. Mrs. Litscher of the art department supervised the making of the lovely sets, and stunning properties were obtained. Everyone cooperated to make a huge success of this ambitious undertaking.
