Facing the problem of time enough to plan and get all the odds and ends of work done for all that goes into a prom, the Junior class performed its own mira- cle. King and Queen were Randy Wiseman and Liana James, chosen by the Student Council. The black, submarine-type tunnel used as an entrance highlighted the under-the-sea theme of the prom and the decorations. An aluminum foil ceiling simulated a wa- ter surface looking from below the water. The bandstand looked just about like a weather-beaten wharf along the waterfront and was decorated with old tires and fish nets. The Royalty stand closely resembled a huge white clam. «r 5 Concert Choir Vocal Music Concert Choir Officers Concert Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Carrie Spitzer, had a most successful year. Besides singing at Central High School con- certs, the group performs for various other functions. The climax of the year for this select group of sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses is the Western Slope Music Festival, which is held in the late spring. Girls’ Chorus Officers All-State Choir Members Brad Decker, Cindy McCord, and Steve Morris. Girls’ Chorus Ramblers After a 34-year career in music edu- cation, Mrs. Carrie Spitzer is retiring. Since 1946, she has taught vocal music at Central High School, as well as tak- ing on elementary assignments in Clif- ton, Pear Park, and Fruitvale. She taught at Clifton High School from 1942-46. Prior to coming to the Grand Junction area, Mrs. Spitzer taught tend at Bloom Rural High School in Ford County, Kansas, from 1929-35. “Au Revoir, Bon Soir, Mrs. Spitzen . . . Be Humble . . . To some these trophies are simply symbols of what students and groups of stu- dents within our school'have accomplished throughout the year. Some might- even think that they are even very few in number. To others and to those who helped bring them home to Central, they represent hard work, pride in what they did; perhaps, to all of us they ought to mean loyalty to what our school represents; it might even be said that tffe'y afe part of the soul of Central High scho r - .
