them. It won't be long until our senior class of 1960 will be widely separated, as each member goes his chosen way Take a mo- ment and open your 1960 Tawasi and stroll once again down the pathway of memories. As the juniors become mighty seniors and the sophomores, freshmen, and eighth graders step up one more rung on the ladder of education, each will want to look back on his experiences. The first complete year in our new building is over and a new one will soon begin, but it is this first year that will be signifi- cant in our collection of memories. The annual staff has worked diligently to preserve the activ- ities, smiles, organizations, friends, and teachers who have helped us prepare to face the world. Yes, even the sorrows and forgotten dreams of the school year, 1959-60, are recorded. May the spirit of Tawasi, whose name implies good luck,” go with you into the future. CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL Grand Junction, Colorado OUR FUTURE Newly Appointed Principal Our Future Leaders PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE I appreciate the opportunity to share in the message that the 1960 Tawasi brings to each student and faculty member at Central High School. Tawasi represents many important intangible goals for Central High School, individually and as a group. It is the name we give our annual - a record of achievement, victory and defeat for the year. It is the name given our chapter of the National Honor Society - a symbol of strong scholarship. It is the name given our athletic mascot - a talisman for victory, and, always, a representation of good sportsmanship. The spirit of Tawasi pervades every area of our school life and represents possible achievement by each student in Scholarship, Self-discxpline, Good Character, Leadership that realizes responsibility to the group as well as self, and Good Citizenship with service to others. Tawasi represents these goals which are difficult to attain but we should never cease working to reach them both as individuals and as members of the Student Body of Central High School. To me one of the important intangibles that Tawasi represents is a strong sense of professional responsibility on the part of the faculty for helping students attain the very best that is in them by strong professional example, cooperation, and respect for one another. The other important intangible that Tawasi represents for the students is a strong desire for seif-improvement, cooperation with one another in improving the status of Central High, and respect for the goals Tawasi represents. Central High School has started on the road toward the important goals Tawasi represents. With self-denial, mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation. Central shall be a great distance on that road by the end of 1960-61. In the spirit of Tawasi I wish you, all of you, much earned success in the future. j Sincerely, qaAjl Karl Marshall, Principal Board of Education Administration Dedication Faculty Seniors Honor Graduates Favorites Juniors Sophomores Junior High Organizations Activities Homecoming Plays Science Fair Prom Awards Athletics Football Wrestling Basketball Baseball Track Graduation Baccalaureate Commencement Advertisers KENNETH M.
