THE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL ANNUAL STAFF PRESENTS... THE 1957 ORWARD The uranium industry has contributed much to the development of this area, and civilization as a whole. It promises to be a key industry of the future; benefiting all of us in some way. Youth, like uranium, is the power of the future. The power that will advance civilization to even higher levels, making a better life for all mankind. TAWASI ADVERTISERS THE PSALM OF LIFE Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime. And departing, leave behind us Footprints in the sands of time; Footprints, that perhaps another. Sailing o'er life's solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother. Seeing shall take heart again. Let us then, be up and doing. With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing. Learn to labor and to wait. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow-- ADMINISTRATION Mesa County, District 51 DEDICATION To one who has long deserved the honor, we the student body wish to dedicate this book to Mr. Roy M. Let’s hear a lick Mr. Flick RGANIZATIONS The student council, under the leadership of Bob Stout, did many things to improve the school this year. One of these things was the organization of the Interschool Stu- dent Council which worked on problems within School District 51. Our Council Presi- dent was elected Vice President of this group. The Interschool Student Council was termed a big success. The Student Council also put into effect a new school constitution which was badly needed. MUSIC PARENTS CARNIVAL DEEMED HUGE SUCCESS Ten cents, please! You win, sir! A cupie doll for the bald gentleman; familiar sounds like that resounded through the halls at Cen- tral. People from freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes ran through the halls yelling, Please, buy a ticket from me. And then, oops, you mean you don’t know what the tickets are for. Well, to begin with, each class is voting on a king and then every one is issued tickets from the class. This helps the class earn money for various uses. Of course, there is a prize which some lucky person wins. Promptly at 9:30 the doors are closed to any more tickets. Well, now, I know you are wondering which class won. Every- one expected the freshman class to win be- cause they were the largest, you know, the seniors fooled everyone. Even though they were the sotollest they really got out and worked. .Jto therefore won. Royalty was Loretta Miracle and Jim Hanks. f SNO-BALL Music by the Offerles Santa Claus is cornin' to town, THESPIANS SPONSOR SUCCESSFUL SNO-BALL Students, faculty, and alumni danced to the music of the Offerles at the Thespian sponsored Sno-Ball, held in the gym of the Fruitvale Elementary, December 19. Pert decorations consisted of: a tree in the middle of the floor with snow balls hang- ing on it, a Santa Claus on a roof was placed on the stage, and a fireplace, which seem- ingly burned, stood at one end of the audi- torium. The general consensus seemed to be that everyone had a very good time. I’m genin' nuttin for Christmas.
