On the Air Among the many wonders of the modern world of science is the radio, which was dis- covered and made known in the first half of the nineteenth century. Like a sleeping giant, it lay dormant through the ages awaiting the magic touch of scientific progress. Now no longer a mere dream of a visionary philosopher, it has become an indisputable and indispens- able part of everyday life, a source of informa- tion and entertainment to countless millions all over the globe.
