With each team playing two practice games, the basketball tournament was under way. The captains of the six teams were: Bobbe Matthews, Marilyn Mansfield, Betty Jo Smith, Carma Ann Adkins, Evelyn Hinkle, and La Wanda Stewart. This series was played on a percentage basis with Smithis team rating one hundred percent and Matthews' and Mansiield's teams each rating ninety percent. ' i On .Smith's team were: Kathleen Kiehne, Pearl Jones, Eula Bishop, Mayme Williams, Ruth Schilling, Patsy Bode, Rosella Wolters, Mary Lou Drum, Betty Strain, Edna Mae Allison, and Verleen Qualls. Eileen Kiehne assisted Miss Towse in the tournament as referee.
