In addition to their regular work, the class has had much practical experience in repairing damaged planes from our two air fields. This is a very popular class and has an enrollment of twenty-one boys. Auto mechanics has proven to be another favorite course with the boysg forty-two have taken this training and have m.ade fine progress since last September. Although the course covers the entire field, maior emphasis is given to motor work. V The Diversified Occupations Program is a cooperative training program between the school and local business whereby students are given training in the occupation of their choice. Students go to school part time and work ,part time. On the job they receive actual training under an expert, and in the personnel problems class a direct related training to their occupation. The students receive compensation for their work and two units of high school credit per year. Forty-two students, representing twenty-one different occupations, have had training in this program this year. The Commercial Department is doing a fine job in. training students for an occupation. The Home Economics Depart- ment is giving complete training in all phases of home work. Aeronautics, a new and important course given this year, teaches theory of aviation, such as plane maneuvers, meteorology, and navigation. Building trades, woodwork and me- chanical drawing are being taught in the Industrial Arts Department. Eleven hundred adults have completed training in the following war production classes: aircraft riveting, general metal welding, bench machinist, auto mechanics, woodworking, radio and electricity. Two hundred adults have completed training in the following evening classes: trade and industry, distributive education and home economics. All departments at Central have cooperated one hundred per cent and have made valuable contributions to this new training program. . 4- 12 - '
