UP IN THE AIR-With the great- est of ease. our cheerleaders arouse the spirit of Central fans and team at the Coliseum. HBEAT 'EM TIGERS. heat 'emlu So cheer the cheerleaders and the fans hoosting the teanfs mor- ale and spirit. I yelled with the rest of the fans to do my little part. I've been to Central's basketball games and know what a tremendous roar is made hy the fans when one of our boys makes a needed basket. Through smiles and tears the Cheerleaders and I faithfully and proudly sing Central Dear Central. whether it is victory or defeat. I think all sports are wonderful for all whether they play the game or watch. I have found. hy participating in sports games. the players de- velop sportsmanship and a good outlook on life. RESERVES - Coach Murray Mendenhall is giving the plans for the coming game to his squad. KNEELING: Bob Young, Gene Ridenaur. Frank Sidwell. Eddie Russell. Bob Stevens. Coach Mendenhall. and Jeff Benson. STANDING: Mike Altekruse. Lloyd Keldson. Bob Mills. Ron Brubaker. Steve Hatch. and Ed Goheen. Basketeers Play Hard, Show lliiair Season THE CENTRAL Tigers were a slow starting team this year. but caught on very quickly. The Tigers lost to Crispus Attucks, Elmhurst, Central Catholic. and Anderson before they caught fire and whipped a highly regarded Concordia team. The Tigers knocked off some mighty fine ball teams after beat- ing the Cadets. They beat a good North Side team and a very scrappy Decatur team. One of the big thrills of the 55-56 basketball season was beating the South Side Archers by four points in a nip and Page 98 tuck battle. The Tigers had an overall record of eight Wins and 13 losses, not bad at all for the slow start they had. The team was lead in scoring by John Kelso. with Fred Meeks and Ernie Bomanow- ski leading a great defensive attack. The bench strength came in handy many of the times during the season. Witll only two seniors leaving the team this year. the Tiger fans look for a great 1956-57 season. ERESHMEN - Coach Bob Armstrong guards Melvin Pat- rick while teaching guarding maneuvers to the freshmen squad. KNEELING: Jim Sny- der. Paul Mays. Larry Haller. Eddie Shepherd. and Dickie Ritchie. STANDING: Lawr- ence Crosby. Charles Irvin. Bill Boyd. jesse Boss. and Don Linton.
