Sixteen senior Tigers marched off the held to play high school foothall no more. Four great years of drills. practices. and hard play- ing under expert and talented coaching. were ended. Team work and self confidence were gained hut the thought of leaving made lumps rise in their throats. Wlas it worth it? Did we accomplish our goal? Jackets. letters. trophies. and honors were received. These young teachers reminisce with their teacher of high selnml days. Miss Rosza Tonkel, who stimulated and inspired these Centralites before and after their graduation. Ben Hawkins. john Kelso. Roger Sarrazin. Boh Rumpf. and Jack IIUUISV. Our Fleetffooted Men Fly COACH Pete Vllilliams whipped another fine Cross eountry team into shape for another winning season. The long distanee men rang up a 6 won. 2 lost reeord for Central. losing only to North Side and Marion. Central had a very fast team with many ol' the boys hreaking the II-minute mark. On the whole our team this year was balanced pretty evenly. hut Kelso stood out as the most consistent runner for Central. Central in the first two en- counters won over Coneordia 50-I5 and South Side 31-28. After this we lost meets with the very Close seores. Bl-28 and 35-27. Central in the Sectional tied for second place. And the team won l7th place in State to round off a terrific season of play. Central's team this year was composed of mostly under- Classmen and juniors. leaving a very strong team for next year's meets.
