One from the War De- partment, another from the office of the Governor at North Dakota. As a result of these two messages, Central started one of the most intensified physical fitness courses ever undertaken in the school. Requiring all boys who reach their eighteenth birthday by next September to take gym tive times a week, the program was immediately launched by Ed Bohnhoft and George McCain, Central High's physical directors. Classes were so organized that the boys were classified into six groups, according to weight, age, and heighti A system of records was established and grades were given out according to each boy's physical condition at the end of each regular six weeks period. Among the tests given are the rope climb, set ups, push ups, leg lifts, baseball throw, and high jump. lt's o great program and the boys are all behind it lOO per cent. 0590 .,,,..-- 'L nfl G 1 W' ffl' T' ' flf I7 Senior Scroll Editorial Staff Editor ...... . . . SCHUMACHER Hoi.KEsviG MARSHALL THOMPSON IQENVOI ln keeping with the tradition of devoting one page to various odcls and ends, we have left this corner for that purpose. You have probably observed that this Scroll varies somewhat from the usual Scroll pattern. One of our new and very special features is the Roll Call of Central servicemen. This valuable record represents countless hours of patient research by the Student Council. To those who have done outstanding work in behalf of the book, special thank you's are certainly in order. Thanks goes to the pair of young ladies who prepared our senior pages. lf you think making up eighteen pages of senior pictures is a push-over, we suggest you see Ruth Kent or lrene Holkesvig. Our compliments to photographers - Cooper's, Lee's and Hoff's, and to Ted Swanson for his splendid work on the activity pictures. Then there is our solicitor, Ed Dixon, and hard-working Mary Jean Benson, secretary, and persevering Genevieve Book, typist. And, of course, the faculty. For without their cooperation our work would fail. A great deal of credit goes to Harry lmai of the Dakota Photo-Engraving Company, for our attractive and original cover, to Holt's for a fine job of printing, and finally to our sponsors, who by their generous aid have made the publication of the Scroll possible. And so we say farewell to Central, to teachers and to friends. Some of us won't be around for quite a while. For those, the farewell holds special significance. We hope that all may come back and meet again the friends of school years. THE STAFF TED DORPAT, Editor E. W. BUTLER, Advisor MARY JEAN BENSON, Business Manager 3 G- vs 'F' n64o
