GRIZZLY GAZETTE Central's Grizzly Gazette staff, headed by Mr. Frank Lowe, is responsible for the printing of a school news- paper each month. At the beginning of the year, the staff decided to modernize the masthead, which has been used since l948. It was suggested by Mr, Frank Wolverton of the Fresno Bee Engravers. This year the Gazette was sent to Fresno State College to be judged in the annual San Joaquin Valley Scholastic Press Association rating. This contest includes papers from all highschools in the San Joaquin Valley. Student Qouiicill Q i Leon Lake Sherli Chu Sylvia Gong 'Pat Smith President Girls' Vice President Treasurer SOCIOI COmmIff6e held in the C.U.H.S. cafeteria. During the dance, the Sportsmanship Trophy was awarded to the school whose team showed the best sportsmanship during the sports activities. The Cheering Section Trophy was also awarded to the school displaying the best school spirit during the games. The Student Council also attended many meetings at other schools, some included the North Shasta League meetings held every month, Leadership Day at Washing- ton High, and Association of Student Council, District i4, Leadership Day at Reedley High. The Student Representatives meet with the Student Council every other two weeks after school. Elected through their Social Science classes, they voice the opin- ions and ideas of the students whom they represent. Thanks to the Student Council and Student Repre- sentatives, is the least we can say for the fine work they have done for Central High the past year Koligian Margaret Solsedo, Lupe Calles. I RED CROSS Prcmoting the welfare of others is the main drive of Central's chapter of the American Red Cross. At the beginning of the year the Red Cross, under the advisorship of Mrs. Elea- nor Pecarovich, had its Membership Drive, which was very successful. An interesting project that the members had was an exchange album. The album told about a student going through his four years of high school, At the end of the year, this album was exchanged with a tcreign high school.
