S students the opportunity to participate in school govern- ment and to promote better school spirit, better faculty-student relationships, better attendance, and better scholarship during the year. Composed of two members from each home- room and four executive officers elected at large, it annually promotes a number of projects for the welfare of the school. Among the projects this year were the sale of Central Pins, the Viking Day festivities and dance, the faculty-student March of Dimes basketball game, the keeping of attendance charts for the school, and the donation of one gundred dollars as a scholarship to a worthy stu- ent. There are forty-four active members this year working harmoniously under the guidance of Mr. Beglinger and Mr. Rogina. BOARD OF REVIEW Back Row: R. Moe, J, Ronca, S. Ladich. Middle Row: S. Rantila, D. Freer, J. Moin. Front Row: G. Wade. J Linski, A. Olsson. Have you ever met the members of the board of review? If you have met the students outside of the student council room you have been pleas- ed no doubt with the fine group of young people from our school. However, if you have been un- fortunate enough to have been late too often or absent an unwarranted number of times these members of the board can be a mighty tough lot. The board wishes to remind all Centralites that a good attendance record can be important in life. or la oi Judy begins - I would like to speak to you today . . . C e n t r al students welcome guests at s p e e c h practice meet. all One of the very active groups in our school was the forensic squad. This year the team con- sisted of approximately 25 people selected from a much larger group. A successful speech festival was held at Central in March at which time sev- eral visiting schools participated. There was an opportunity for making friends with other young people interested in the speech field. A trip by Greyhound bus to Hurley was made April lst when the squad took part in the annual district speech meet. A comfortable stopover for dinner was made at the Menard Hotel in Ashland. Spe- cial effort vvas made to have the students partici- pate in community activities during the year either in single speeches or panel discussions. This helped them develop poise and started them de- veloping their own speaking ability. Some stu- dents appeared before elementary school audi- ences. Sixty people tried out for forensic work this year and took part in dramatic and argumen- tive work. Mr. Hoff and Mr. Mayes were the advisors. Back Row: L. Hutton, J. Kara, S. Ansell, R. Bromley, J. CLU Boys receiving one letter for participation in either football or basketball are eligible to become members of the S Club. These boys have all receiv- ed their medals and trophies presented at previous honor assemblies. This year the club helped buy a movie camera for the school, sponsored Donkey Bas- ketball, and the appearance here of the famous Har- lem Globetrotters. Advisors of this organization of forty members are Mr. Marvin Crowley and Mr. John Bruckbauer. Spectacular committee chairmen make plans, but keep them secret. What's it about boys?
