Weren't the Superior homes beautifully decor- ated this Christmas? Chances are some of the wreaths used were bought from Coquina girls who undertook this aesthetically satisfying project for the first time this year. A quiet organization, the thirty-seven Coquinas work whole-heartedly at their projects. most of which parallel those of the Athenae and Booster Clubs, They cooperate with the other two clubs in serving at all the luncheons and banquets that come during a busy school year. They, too, know just the right delicacy to tempt the appetites of the weary teachers before the teachers' meetings, They collaborate with the other units to make Viking Day festivities some- thing to remember. Like the other clubs. they have an annual dance-the Cotton Hop. Isn't that a name? Makes one want to put on new spring clothes and go to it, to shake off the winter blues. The girls and their advisor, Miss Rose, use some of the proceeds from the Hop, and from their sale of Viking banners and Central High School combs, for their annual gift to the school. One of the happy experiences of the year was the joint trip of the Junior and Senior girls of the three origami. zations, to the Ice,Fol1ies in Minneapolis. They really went to town that day. Proudly fifty-three service- wise girls worked cooperatively with the other clubs to make social life at Central very enjoy- able for others as well as themselves. They be- gan the year with a Tea for Freshman girls, they held informal and formal initiations for their new members, they did their share in preparing and serving food at the College Day luncheon, and the Football-Basketball and Senior Banquets, and they served coffee and cake to the teachers to put them in a good mood at faculty meetings. Zeal- ously they sold candy, pencils and theater tickets to raise funds for a gift to the school. High on their program of activities they listed a very fes- tive Mothers' Tea, a Valentine party, and a truly memorable Christmas Dance. When spring roll- ed round again, they featured a Fashion Show and treated themselves to a trip to the Ice Follies in Minneapolis. It can honestly be said that these girls, and their advisor Miss Lomoe, took on great- ness by becoming a part of a cause greater than themselves.
