BAND With forty members the 1949-1950 band was larger than any preceding band at Central. Not only was the membership larger but the performing ability was also greater than that of preceding organizations. The first public performance for the year was at the dedication of the new highway bridge across Eel River. A few weeks later the band played and marched at a Manchester College football game. The organization participated in the fall and spring concerts at school. On April 1 they won a superior rating at the district band contest at Hartford City and on April 15 participated in the State Band Contest at Plymouth. The results of that contest were not available when the En-Em went to press. A trip through the Conn instrument factory at Elkhart proved a most interesting venture to all members.
