The group was divided into as many committees as there were meetings and each committee was made responsible for one meeting. Each committee was given an opportunity to select the meeting for which they would be responsible. • At Christmas time the group took over the project of selling decorative cones and wreaths as a means to raise money for the regular meetings and the two parties. The Christmas party was held at school. The girls exchanged gifts, had a serious program, then had an entertainment SUNBEAMS which everyone enjoyed very much. The spring party was held at the Honeywell Memorial skating rink and the junior high school boys were guests. Page Sixteen Wing’s Flowers—Flowers for All Occasions Johnson Marathon Station

They began their social year with the Hi-Y hayride. After arriving at LcffcTs woods everyone enjoyed an inviting campfire while refreshments were served. “Understanding Religion,” was adopted as a theme for the year. With this in consideration, they heard a protestant minister and a catholic priest, but were unable to get a Jewish Rabbi as intended. A series of talks was given on social guidance by Professor Reimon of Manchester College. A caroling party was planned around Christmas time but due to inclement weather it was canceled. The highlight of the year was the annual Hi-Y “Best Girl Banquet.” This year it was held at the Sportsman’s Club at Beaver Dam, after which most couples went somewhere to dance or take in a movie. J R. Ill-Y The Jr. Hi-Y consists of the younger boys at Central which meets once a month. School boys have as one of their primary interests athletics. As basketball is Centrals major sport the Jr. Hi-Y's first speaker of the year was our new coach, Burt Niles. Mr. Niles talked of the importance of training and of the benefits of it. The spring sport, track, offers more boys an opportunity to participate and again Coach Niles was given an opportunity to sell that athletic program. Mr. Dierdorf told of his war experiences while in the service, and Reverand Conkling talked to the boys about the things revealed by one’s individual hand writing. The schedule of the Jr. Hi-Y was somewhat affected by the interruption of school this year, although they had a variety in the program. The season was concluded by a musical program consisting of records as recorded by Mr. and Mrs. Freed in their work with Homer Rode-heaver during the summer. OFFICERS President ....
