FJTQ3 l RETZROSDEC lIl0l1 In looking back over the first century of secondary educa- tion in Kalamazoo, we must be ever mindful of all the threads which have gone into the fabrics. Within the pages of this Delphian, we have been limited in the amount we can portray. We will show you some of the outstanding developments in the field of education, the buildings which have housed public' secondary education in Kalamazoo, and some of the events within the community which have made their mark on education. We might be inclined to see only these outstanding events. In looking at the fabric as a whole, we realize that into its background have also been woven many events of lesser im- portance. The fabric is what it is because of the interplay of all events and because of the devotion of innumerable towns- people, faculty, and students who .together have given us the Central High School of today.

OEOICAIIOI1 To the future of secondary education we dedicate this, the 1959 Delphian. A new century will bring new opportunities and new chal- lenges. In the immediate future we look to the opening of a sec- ond senior high school with many fine new facilities. We know that enrollment will increase at a more rapid pace than in the past century. Changes of an economic nature in our com- munity challenge the school to give the best preparation possible to all students. These and other changes which we cannot foresee will face secondary education in the new century. This new century will bring its share of fine faculty, stu- dents, and townspeople, and we have faith that they will carry on the traditions which have been established, and begin new traditions to hand on to future generations to in- sure that a bright future lies ahead. To this future we dedicate our yearbook.
