They are architectural drafting, automotive trades, machine drafting, machine trades, printing, sheet-metal and wood-working. Any individual may take a begin- ning course in one of these fields merely to add to his general education. HOMEMAKING Future housewives gain training in fields such as cooking, sewing, and nurs- ingg fields which will play an important part of their married life. In the clothing classes, girls learn the basic points of a well-constructed garment, the advantages of sewing to obtain a large wardrobe on a small bud- get, and the selection of durable ma- terials. Buying techniques, table setting, eco- nomical buying of food, and, of course, the art of cooking are important parts of the foods course. Home nursing, a relatively new sub- ject, teaches the future homemakers practical nursing as well as the art of improvising when there is a sick person in the home. PHYSICAL EDUCATION Variety is the keyword in Central's Physical Education program. Many varied and diverse courses are offered by this department. In the tenth grade, one semester is spent in regular gym classes, reveiwing fundamentals and learning new skills. During the other semester, each tenth grader receives training in driver education, health, and first aid. The eleventh grade program involves advanced work in sports and physical exercise and introduces swimming to all students. Home and Family Living is taught to all twelfth graders for the dur- ation of one semester.
