Waters, S. September, 1934: The present senior class chairman. Heck Bakers orchestra pro- was organized with Miss Florence Iulin as adviser. Class officers were Iames Shana- han, president, Paul Van Keuren, vice-presi- dent, Sally Ter Beck, treasurer, and Iames Nezamis, secretary. April 12, 1935: The sophomores staged a vaudeville show in the cafeteria at the Hi-Y carnival, Paul Van Keuren, aided by Har- riet Kelly and Harry Boyer made the plans. May 3, 1935: The Spring Frolic' took place with a garden setting which included a wishing well, a pool, and many flowers transforming the gym into a typical spring garden. Heck Bakers orchestra furnished ine dance music. Paul Van Keuren served as general chairman. September 26, 1935: The class, then Iuniors, chose the following officers: Iames Shana- han, president, Don Nash, viceepresident, Paul Van Keuren, treasurer, and Ted Mar- vin, secretary. October 12, 1935: The seniors defeated the juniors in the annual Iunior-Senior Rush at Upjohn field. October 25, 1935: The Home-coming dance was held before the Benton Harbor-Central football game. The school colors of both teams were flown in the boys' gym, and a Halloween theme furnished the setting for the girls' gym. Harriet Kelly was general vided the music. April 17, 1936: A beautiful Hawaiian scene was carried out for the I-Hop. Bill Iohn- son's orchestra played for the dancers. Iean Graham acted as general chairman. September 21, 1936: The Ianuary graduates chose officers, Richard Lemmer, president, Iames Nezamis, vice-president, Margaret Vander Veen, treasurer, and Ted Marvin, secretary. September 22, 1936: Iune graduating of- ficers were: Donald Nash, president, Iames Shanahan, vice-president, Robert Wearne, treasurer, and Dudly Cutler, secretary. October, 1936: Senior officers selected ring designs for the class to vote upon. November 13, 1936: Brightly colored autumn leaves converted the girls' gym into a beau- tiful tall scene for the Battle Creek pep dance. Good luck charms were given out to keep away evil spirits. Pattie La Vene was general chairman. Iohnny Dexter's musical swingsters provided the music. November 21, 1936: The present seniors won the Iunior-Senior Rush. Ianuary 22, 1937: The seniors ended the semester with a mystery play, The Ghost Train. fContinued on page 253
