Mr. Weems was born and reared in Meridian, Mississippi, where he received his elemenTary and high school educaTion. He earned a BA. Degree in The field of Commerce aT Mississippi STaTe College. Coming To CHS in 1944, he ioined The Commercial DeparTmenT, where he Taughf Diversified Occupa- Tions. ln 1947 he became counselor. He received his M.A. Degree from The UniversiTy of Alabama in AugusT of 1950. In 1955 he became sponsor of The STudenT Council of CHS. CenTral High School is The only school in which Mr. Weems has Taughf. CHS is his life. He is always aT The righT place aT The righT Time, ready To lend a helping hand To anyone who will accepT his kind- ness. Mr. Weems is a greaT believer in people, al- ways looking for The good in Them and Trying To help Them overcome ThaT which is wrong. Mr. Weems encourages his sTudenTs To use Their minds, noT iusf Their memories, and emphasizes The build- ing of resourcefulness and independence as much or more Than scholasTic proficiency. Each staff member is proud to have had a part in the grovvth and development of Jackson in this way. We consider it a privilege to have contributed in some way to your future. The present graduating class represents that sixty-ninth milestone for us. You have gained a high school diploma and yet you have acquired a responsibility to the community. All of the varied experiences that you have had at Central High School: classes, activities, athletics, and co-curric- ular opportunities, have contributed to your maturity as a citizen. We would congratulate you on your progress through the years you have been with us. As you go forth will you remember to be useful and responsible citizens, to exercise initiative and self-reliance, and to foster that which is good even though it may mean sacrifice to you, and you will sustain your alma mater in the years to come.
