Activities in gym classes promote such desirable moral and social qualities as appreciation of the value of cooperation obedience to authority, cour- age and wholesome interest in recreation- al activities. SPECIAL EVENTS For added interest these students fre- quently visit the Highway Patrol Depart- ment and the City Police Station. Every week they have a radio program consist- ing of a panel discussion on traffic prob- lems and how to bring down the number of accidents. llHlVEll'S ElllllillllllN A new subject at Central, the Driver's Education course is now a must for all sophomores. This nine weeks study is offered for the purpose of giving each student a sound attitude and cooperative spirit toward the Power Age in which he lives and through such an attitude to re- duce the number of unnecessary and un- timely deaths on our streets and highways. Eventually the instructor hopes to teach the course with dual control automobiles, at which time students will be taught sound techniques and skills. FRANK R. ALBERT B.S. Memphis State

IIIIISIE DEPARTMENT Do, rae, me, -floats out the win- dows and down the halls from the music room, as Pop King gets his classes warmed up and ready to sing. In these classes, each student has a chance to sing by himself and in groups. This helps to give him a sense of rhythm and harmony and also prepares him for public appear- ances in the future, as the occasion may arise. ALVIN J. KING School of Music Diploma SPEEIAI EVENTS Each fall the students prepare Handel's Messiah for the annual Christmas pres- entation, while the big spring events are the State Choral Festival and the spring operetta.
